i take things dealers say with a grain of salt. especially really major things like this. Honda NA is usually pretty quick to respond to inquiries. Maybe one of us should contact them and get the story straight?

I just emailed my dealer, probably should call - I don't want to be in a situation 2-3 months from now where then they tell me all they have is an automatic.

Anyone who is a driver, who is a true driving enthusiast usually wants a manual for the extra control at any speed and any driving conditions.. I don’t want, nor will I settle for an A/T… If I get lucky and just happen to get a M/T then great… if not…. Well I’m buying a Scion Xa (with less options unfortunately), and will have to seriously reconsider buying another Honda in the future… Toyota is doing some great things too, their quality is there, and their styling is getting more pleasing…

WTF are they thinking????? How can they truly justify pissing off so many customers?
The Fit is sold world wide. Toyota is a MUCH bigger Car Company than Honda. The Fit is the least expensive model sold in the USA. It's the way it is. Deal with it.

First things first Honda is still making M/T fits We have 3 incoming in the next month( 1 mine). Honda does not work on an ordering system it is based on Allocation. M/T fits are 15% of your allocation, so if you are a smaller dealer you need to be allocated enough Fits in a month to be able to request one. Our dealer is big we get 12-14 allocated per month(allocation based on Civic sales) so we order 2-3 manuals per month. a smaller dealer who receives 4-5 Fits per month gets a manual every other month.

Honda is very conservative with early production of a new vehicle, once CRV production goes full steam in the US you should see more Fits coming out of that facility. Any dealer who is telling you that they " stopped production, this is the end of the model years production, etc" is just spinning you. the vehicle is already an 07 model so just like the Ridgeline last year there will be no break in production for a model year.

Thanks for the heads up. The dealer I went to said their next ordering cycle (when mine will be placed) is the 14th of August. So, if this was the case that MT's were being ceased for a while - I didn't want to be in a situation where an auto was substituted and I was told when it arrived months down the line.

Thanks for the info... i thought it all sounded like Bull Dung!! I think my specific salesman just forgot to order is my opinion... They are a busy dealership so I'm sure they have enough allocations to warrent at least 2 m/t a month... well maybe not for a fit...

Anyway, thanks...

Would you mind explaining a tad more? If it does not work on an ordering system how do you order 2-3 manuals?

You mean Honda says "thou shalt have 12-14 Fits" and you can specifiy WHICH 12-14 (color/body/tranny) as long as only 2-3 are manuals?

My head hurts.

The reason manual FITs are impossible to find right now is because Americans love automatics. I think less than 5% of new cars in America are manuals. All the ones that were manuals were sold to enthusiasts/people who only drive stick.

Correct When you receive an allocation it tells you how many Fits you can order for us it may be 12 of those 25% are base 75% are sport and no more than 15% of the total order are manuals. you can then request colors combos. Honda confirms the order and changes what they want. Example you want a BOM sport and there weren't many requested Honda can and does change your order and/or will push that car back to the next month.

It can be VERY frustrating on a limited production vehicle.

That seriously cracks me up. But in a sad way.

Thanks for the info, this is very helpful. I now have some more questions to ask my dealer about my order and how it corresponds to their allocation (lookee how I'm using the right terms).

Here's a link to a post on an edmonds forum that also explains what Stevens24 is talking about What the Mumbo-Jumbo Really Means. In case this link doesn't work (looks like a session link to me) it is message #384 of "Honda Fit: Prices Paid and Buying Experiences". Easy to find.

Hello, I'm confussed how I ended up with my Fit then based on the accounts I've been reading on here.

I called 30 dealerhsips within 70 miles of where I live, Plainfield IL. and I stumbled accross Community Honda of Orland Park and the sales man I spoke with when I called said he just had a white one rolling off the car carrier.

It wasn't spoken for and had no deposit yet, I was shocked and couldn't figure out how there a Fit sitting there that wasn't taken yet since all the responses I got were the same.

I'd have to order it and it won't be in until Oct. Some other dealerships weren't even taking any more orders and some were a first come first serve no deposit method and so you'd have to fight to get a Fit if one came in.

A few salesmen laughed at me and said are you kidding, goodluck in finding one, your like the 20th person that's called today looking for one.

I guess anything is possible in short and if you want something bad enough just keep searching and you'll find it. It took me total 1 day of searching to find a Fit, finding one is possible even though it seems hopeless.
