advice on used Fit purchase

Hello,

I'm currently in the market to buy a used fit. I've looked at 2007 to 2009 fits. I know the 2009 Fit has quite a few improvements and about 10 HP added to the engine. I also like the trim better.

However, I've found that there are great deals out there on 2007 LX Fits with sub 80 000 miles for around 8000-9000 whereas the 2009s with comparable mileage go for about 11 000$.

My question: is the 2009 Fit really worth shelling out an extra 2000-3000$ or is a 2007-08 at 8000$ a better score on a used vehicle?

PS: I'm only looking at manual transmissions

Thanks in advance for your responses!

I think that entirely depends on what you plan on using it for. Elaborate on that topic please.

you can pretty much disregaurd the 10hp...the difference of driving a car with 10hp difference will pretty much never be felt.

style and price should be what weighs in

IMO, 09+ has mcuh nicer interior. but i liek the 07-08 exterior.

^^ YEAH WHAT HE SAID
although if they offer VSA pay the money for one with it, in your canada winters you'll be amazed at how well it works
i too have owned both an 2007 and currently own a 2010 with VSA, it's the shit in our winters

my 2009 AT does not have vsa...and that's a good thing since i swap tires summer/winter.

my 12MT has vsa so this means tpms light is on with my summer wheelset which does not allow me to launch the car hard because i can't turn off vsa! wtf~

you have to take it to someone that can learn the tpms system, then you need to have the factory wheels near the car, start the learning process with the "honda" computer and take the factory wheels away from the car and drive the car, this will allow you to turn vsa off and track the car or whatever the tpms light will just flash until you actually put the stocks back on
i have tracked my 2010 several times and not had any issues

Saw this link over on the CRZ forums... TPMS Tyre Pressure Sensor 42753-SNA-A830-M1 Honda Odyssey 4 pieces new | eBay CRZ owners are using those with no problems, apparently it works for most Honda models.
A lot cheaper than the $150 that most other places want. Combine that with the ATEQ Quickset, and you can swap wheels with TPMS with no problems, be able to dis-able VSA when you need to, and it makes the money you spent on it back since you don't have to pay the dealer, or other tire shops to re-program the ecu for the new/other set of sensors.

Thumbs up

$85 for the sensors (per set(4) of wheels)
$160 for the ATEQ

and you can swap wheels whenever you want.... Yeah I'd say it's definitely worth it.

yah, when it comes time to swap the tires on my summer set i would get this for sure. so far the RE760's been gripping well enough that VSA doesn't interupt my spirited driving.

Thanks for the replies! I find it funny that you prefer the 08 exterior, I find the 09's styling much more aggressive and less dorky!

I'm a musician so I don't have a great deal of cash to throw around hence the reason I'm looking for a used car. Also, since the winter is approaching, I figured it was the best time of the year to buy, since it's Somewhat of a down time for demand.

Best deal I've found so far was an 09 with 90 000 kilometers for 8'500$. However, I'm looking to pay a lil' more for something with less miles on it

Just bought a 2010 base AT with 19,000 on it and absolutely love it. Great little car.

Get a sport if you can for the VSA for Canada winters, I think the audio package is better too which i'm sure you'll appreciate as a musician. It is by no means groundbreaking but it's better than the base.

Hello,

here are some used fits I've found in Quebec:

year / Kilometers / price

2009 LX / 72 000 / 11 000$ (won't budge on the price)
2008 LX / 36 000 / 11 000$ (willing to negociate)
2009 DX / 98 000 / 8 500$ (2 hours drive away, nice mags, high mileage a negative but great price)
2007 LX / 55 000 / 9000$ (seller wants to sell before winter so willing to nego)

I'm thinking that although the 2007 is the oldest, it has modest mileage, and seems to be fully loaded (cruise, AC, even an mp3-guessing that means aux-input somehow that I didn't think came standard on the 2007). I bet I can get coax the owner of the 2007 down to the 7000-8000$ range which seems like a pretty sound buy. I'm hoping to get another 5 years out of the vehicle before I need to start making more serious repairs (other than basic oil filter change and break replacement etc)

What do you guys think?

Just found a curiously colored fit on ebay of all places. It's close enough to me that i can pick it up locally. He's asking 10 000 for a 2010 with just under 30 000 km (18 000 miles). Has anyone ever endeavoured to purchase a car through ebay? The idea almost sounds crazy to me but the car appears to be in great shape.

I just went with an 08 vs the 09. I think it depends on what you will be using it for. This is my commuter, and I simply wanted the best reliability with the best mpg and at the lowest price. All factors taken, I went with an older model with low miles. I also got better mpg from the smaller engine, plus I saved about $4k going with the older model.

I do like the styling both interior and exterior of the GE better than the GD. But, I could give a *&Dt what the neighbors think. One thing, a center armrest would have been nice on my 08.
