Injen Technology Is Going To Be Using My Car For R&D

The sales guy I bought my Fit from is really cool and told me that he had emailed Injen Technology (local aftermarket maker of performance intakes and exhausts) and that they were looking for new model year cars to test some of their products on. They need the car for 2-3 days and they install an intake when they are done.

I emailed them and got a response saying they are interested. I'm quite excited but a little nervous also. Does anyone have any experience doing anything like this?

This is a picture of the intake that my sales buddy got. Looks pretty nice to me.

Just for an update, I love the intake. The car has a much better sound and the power is very noticeable. My engine was completely stock before this intake. It relocates the filter under the bumper and it's really high up. Granted I have my Fit at stock height, but I don't imagine splashing it unless it was rainy all the time. Here's a video of me revving with the inew Injen CAI intake on. Ill go take another video of in-car, while driving, and some decent photos.

Did you get that for free? Is it different from the one already out for the 2nd generation Fit?

Yes I got the intake for free. They installed it as well. Apparently the 2013 design is no different from the 2012, but they needed to be sure I guess.

Go to Injen.com and click on FREE INTAKE (for the lazy Injen - Performance Air Intake Systems, Exhaust Systems, Turbo Components, and Air Filters for Cars, Trucks, Motorcycles, ATV's, Boats and more!) You can see exactly what I did. Magnaflow also has a FREE EXHAUST button on their website MagnaFlow Exhaust

Gotta live in the LA/OC area though and be willing to drop your car off for 3-5 days. I dropped mine at Injen on Monday morning and they emailed me Wednesday morning saying it was done.

I don't think they make an SRI for the Fit. Before I gave them my car, they were up to date up to 2011 for the fit. So when I plug that year into their website it still on brings up the CAI. You can always give them a call though.

Sounds great from inside while driving. I just pulled up my passenger front headrest, faced my phone forwards and pushed down the headrest a bit to wedge the phone in place, I angled it a bit better and pushed play. Gives a pretty great view.

Wait, is your car a auto? I thought their intake was for MT only?

My car is an automatic. It seems to work just fine and since they did the R&D with my vehicle, I assume they would have told me if it was a problem Again, I really love the sound. Much more subtle than an exhaust but somehow more powerful sounding.

If this is the same as 09-11 design, then the CAI can turn into SRI.

This is correct. Please see video for reference. I have a sport so I was using the paddles in the driving video.

someone correct me if i'm wrong, but iirc the reason why some of the other CAI's would not work with an AT was the way the pipes are routed. I believe was it the automatic transmission was in the way or something like that.

Only the Takeda CAI doesn't work on automatics, reason being where the pipes are routed. The Takeda curves down between the radiator and transmission, and since the A/T is bigger, it won't work. The Injen curves around under the headlight, so the size of the transmission has no effect on it.

Interesting, good to know, i was under the impression all the intakes except the K&N worked on the Auto models. I guess i have something i might buy now.
