The one thing I do not like with these comparisons is I start looking at similar cars. First it is the Impreza then I think what about a WRX then I move up to a used bugeye STI.
After figuring I would end up with around a 2006 to 2007 STI with plus 55k miles at a cost of over $20k , premium gas, 20mpg I think I will wait for gas to drop back to $2 per gallon then I will buy it.

OMG, how did I even forget about the JUKE? I love the car and almost got one, I have weird taste in quirky looking cars

That's if you don't mind a small boot tho

Kinda gets your hand itchy to pull the trigger doesn't it? Those are definitely not for the mpg conscious. On a good day with all the planets lined up I get 27 at best but mostly low 20's average...

A used 2006-07 STI still high price but I like the look especially with no wing

I test drove the juke 6mt and it rode nice for a crossover. The interior is too small in the back seat area even for kids and cargo. At the end, I just got the '12 fit sport mt to use as dd. And I am very glad I did.

My buddy just got a 2011 M3 V8 gets 18 mpg however, he only puts 6k on his car a year where I can do from 20 to 26k depending on my schedule. 55k could mean 100k within two years. Maybe in a few years I will drop my Miata (summer car) and pick up a STI (if prices drop) as my winter beater Ha Ha (you have to give your wife a good reason).

Don't have an Sti. I have an '02 Bugeye. The STi came out the next year. Otherwise I would have waited. But I'm ok with it. Still gets my heart rate up and getting me around @ 127k mi.

Do you drive it often or is it you fun car at this point? I have never had a WRX always looked at them.

I like the first generation in the USA I think the WRX was sold outside the country in years prior to 2000 not sure. I am still fond of the 2006 -07 WRX (hawkeye) (still carry their value) it is one of those cars like the Datsun 510 that is on my wishlist.

Mine ('02) was the 1st US edition. But it's been around for years prior. Used to be my DD for a few years. At this point it's my fun car. The Fit is my son's DD to school and my Home Depot car when I can get hold of it, mostly on weekends. Just from browsing around, most Subarus seem to hold their values over the years.

Amazing looking car. Back then they were just eco-boxes. Another car that should be consider in the mix is the Mazda3 my daughter brought one yesterday i grand automatic with heated leather seats, Skyactive. for $18,500 list $23,650 dealers seem to be giving big discount. Prior to her her buying I got her a quote a auto Fit Sport 2013 at $18,100.

Wow, nice! Definitely something to consider. Sounds quite loaded compared to the Fit's features. BTW, saw a pix of the WRX concept car from the NY Auto Show. Looks like a take-off from the BRZ but sure looks nice.

I drove the Mazda 3 hatch recently because I've always read very positive reviews about it but i must say i was not impressed at all. The interior was much more cramped and cheaper feeling than the Fit and it felt very sluggish w the automatic. I also drove the 2013 Honda Civic which I was very impressed with, very quiet, smooth, and the interior felt fairly upscale.
