Can't find a Fit anywhere?
Can't find a Fit anywhere?
I've finally decided to buy a Blue Fit Sport 5-speed. Now I can't find one anywhere, or even put a deposit down on one. I live in Alabama, and the 3 major dealerships in my home town(Birmingham) do not even have a Manual Fit coming on any of thier incoming inventory list. I would consider going out of state to find the Blue Fit Sport 5 speed. I was told numerous times that the latest Terrorist situation will dramaticly hurt the availability of Fits incoming. Anyone have any ideas or know of what I am looking to purchase. Come on Salesmen here you have a buyer,,,,let me know....Thanx....

Yes the Manual Fits are EXTREMELY hard to get as everyone knows. My dealership is one of the Biggest in California and I have only 2 coming in, but still wont even be built until next month. It looks like the Base MTs are becoming a little bit more available over here in Cali. Good luck and hope you get that Blue sport!
Hey I found one,,,Check it outJust Slightly over MSRP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hahahahaha...Does this guy really think someone will buy it?

I just ordered mine from Holler Honda. They were asking MSRP, plus $600 for Holler to make some money.
$17,xxx. Not too bad? I'll be waiting till November. *sniffler*

Found a Blue 5 speed Sport at Mall of Georgia Honda. But they have added $3k of options to it...Yucky Yuck...loL...told them to find me a White Sp[ort 5 speed, after looking thru some photos of Fits on the Web, I think I like the white better...maybe a cleaner look to it.....also would look awesome with some carbon fiber accents to it, since I know composites I could whip up some nice body parts.....I'll keep looking, and hopefully will find what I'm looking for...
I'm having an impossible time just finding one to test drive. I drove one last week and went back today to drive it again but it was gone. Called all the dealers in my area and no one has any. What are we supposed to do? It seems like dealers would want to keep one as a demo. Do people really buy cars without driving them first?

In this case... if you want one :P
I drove a fit IN THE PARKING LOT of the dealership... along the back maitenance area... turned around, drove back.... probably a total of 300 feet... and that was it.
Got out to start doing paperwork because if I didn't there was another guy in line to grab it.
They tried to tack on $2000 markup (for NOTHING) and I ended up walking away... very disapointed and feeling very ripped off (and I didn't even buy it!!) The car was sold practically before I got off their property...
I ended up waiting about 15 days after reserving one at another dealership (they added on the Pro package and tacked on $500.... so I got stuff AND got $1500 off the other dealership's price...)
It's fun, sporty, and COOL

If you actually took one on a test drive, you did better than me...
Yes, 100% japan made Fits are getting harder to find...after Honda lowered their production of the Fits, there just aren't enough supply to keep up, you can hardly see any Fits on the road...but have patience, it'll paid off in time, search out of states if you have to...
I was lucky in one way, my local dealer keeps a base fit with upgrades (black with HFP rims) as a demo unit. It drives the sales guys nuts because they could have sold it five times a day. So I actually got to drive one before ordering. They had four incoming, and three were sold. I was not as lucky in another way. If I wanted one then I was going to pay a little extra and it was going to be a BOM Sport AT. So I paid a bit over msrp and had the car a week after placing my deposit. Luckily that car was very high on my preference list.
About the AT models: Having owned several Manual and AT Hondas, I really like their AT cars. I owned a 5sp 84 Accord, 5sp 86 Civic and a 5sp 97 Accord and I didn't like the clutch on any of them. The throw is too long and the feel was mushy. My wife had a 5sp 03 Accord and traded it back within 6 months for an AT 03 accord. We had a 98 AT Accord at the same time and it was a better driving car than ly MT 97, all the way around. FWIW, the AT Fit is one of the "smartest" AT cars I have ever driven.
The reports of dalers asking msrp+2k are real, since I was told that by two other dealers here in CT, and that still meant a wait of at least a month with no guarantee of delivery date. The bottom line is that they are scarce and in demand. That is called a seller's market, and I am not surprised tht dealers would capitalize on that. They do the same thing with higher end cars, so I don't know why it is so surprising. I didn't pay that kind of premium, but when one becomes available there is a choice: pay or wait.

I'm buying a Fit without ever having driven one. I figure I'm an average 5'10" and i fit in my parent's Accord just fine.
The selling point over Toyota et al? I love the idea of fitting my bike in the back seat area.. maybe i'll ride that thing more!
After talking to a few area dealers over the phone for the last couple months whose first offers were 10% above MSRP to reserve one... last week I 'put my name' on a Blue Automatic Sport here in Seattle by offering $1,000 over MSRP. It's been shipped and is supposed to arrive on the lot next week.
I feel a bit cavalier, but i've read up on the Fit here and elsewhere and the car seems the best match for me, this is the style and color i wanted, it won't have any dealer packages, the salesman is straight up, and soon i won't be having to sweat getting my first new car anymore!

How do you get the build date? Do you call/bother the dealership?
If anyone cant find a Fit to test drive in Orlando just go to Coggin Honda.
I doubt that they'll sell that base model for $18,500. Or the Sport for $19,xxx Hahaha!
