My journey to be 'Fit' begins.
Hi everyone.
I have a very sad story. However, my story is still unfolding, so perhaps it will have a happy ending.
Three months ago i desided that i needed/wanted a truck as a secondary vehicle to haul stuff, because my primary car has little trunk/cargo room. A month into my search/research i desided it would be fun to own a Jeep Wrangler, (Take out back seat for more cargo room, plus Jeeps are cool). Then in mid July I bought a used 1998 Jeep Wrangler (as is, with limited warrenty) from a used car dealership. Two weeks later, it became painfully obvious i had bought a lemon. Bad intrument panel, bad electical, bad transmission, bad AC unit, and on, and on, and on. Total repairs for my $13,000/9 year old lemon: Between $5,000. and $7,000. The dealer of coarse does not want to take the Jeep back. My attorneys seem to think i have a very, very good case and that i should either get my money back or have the dealer pay for all repairs. But all this may take a long time, and in the mean time my money stays tied up in a lemon parked in my driveway. I feel like an idiot for buying a lemon, (never fell into this mistake before), and so i'm beating myself up while i wait for some resolution.
Surfing the internet to take my mind off my troubles, i stumbled upon this 'sub-compact-cross-over' class of cars. Small on the outside, big on the inside: Toyota Yaris/Matrix/XA, Suzuki Aerio SX, Mazda 3, Chevrolet Aveo5, and of coarse the Honda Fit. I'm going today to start looking at some of these cars, but i must admit i'm already a bit biased toward the Fit. All the qualities i'm looking for in a secondary vehicle seem to be best handled by the Honda Fit, (At least on paper). The car seems perfect for me: Lots of cargo room, and incredible gas milage. So this car will be getting a lots of special attention when i'm shopping around.
BTW, I'm a member of another car forum, so i'm speaking from experience when i say: Looks like you guys have a nice forum here.
From the Fit owners who use their car to 'haul' stuff and run errands around a big city, i'd like to know the things you like or admire the most about your Fit?
and . . .
Given the great gas mileage your getting, do you feel your Fit has enough 'engine power' in traffic?
and . . .
How is the quality of your stereo?
and . . .
What mods are most popular amoung you guys?
How many opt for the 'arm rest'? - (Seems like a good mod to start with).
Thank you so much for reading.
Oh, and have a 'fit' day.

welcome and ...
what's not to like....
power is very low but the dam fit is pretty quik and It hides very well the lack of power you'll find yourself changing gears a lot ( if you are lucky enough to find a manual (I did)).
But the car is great!!! the cargo is incredible the stereo awsome (sport fit).
And the handling is just great. This little car is frisky!!
Whach out for the dealers and overpricing!!! ahhhh
p/d: If you opt for the 16'' wheel upgrade, do it after you get the car or you may loose the factory 15'' sport ones ( is like a gift for the dealer to make money) Take the car home, and then buy the wheels or whatever wheels you like and KEEPT THE FACTORY ONES!!!
GOOD HUNTING!!

ARMREST! is a MUST!
Hauling stuff is no problem as long as you don't lower it.. and dont wanna try and haul a car or somethin around.. A fit is hard to come by now-a-days so good luck. Also was that a brand new car or was it used?!

the one thing you must keep in mind is the feature taht theFIT comes standard with are nothing but option for other makes, which is what does and always will make teh FIt a better purcahse wether you get a base or a Sport.
power door
power windows
power mirrors
air conditioner
am/fm/cd player
ABS
6 air bags
3 point seat belts
magic seats
rear cup holders
3 years 36k warranty
6 years 60k trans warranty
honda quality and reliability
The Fit was picked #1 by car and driver for it's class, which makes it stand well above it's compititors, cargo space is what this car was designed for, so you should have any problems with that being a option, rather a reason for ya.
i average about 37 miles city roughly, depends on how much i use the A/C.

I Play keyboards and go with all my gear, tho my kb amp may not be as heavy as yours, but in overall ( including the dam heavy boards ) is heavy anyway and no problems so far.
Ahhhh the tall mode is great, I put almost all in there, leaving the cargo area empty ( Is just that I don't want the SKB rubbing the side panels, so is wider in the back seat area) for my "beer full cooler".
An increase in weight can actually be a GOOD thing... If you're not having to slow down and accelerate much. I.E., highway driving. More weight in the vehicle gives it more inertia.
I don't think a little equipment, even a couple hundred pounds, will have a huge affect on your economy.

silver sport MT here. Before you head to the dealer, make sure you have your financial ducks in a row. Then you can make a reasonable offer, take it or leave it. The sport model give you quite a lot, more than I need, i.e. electric windows, but I do really like the stereo, had to have cruise too. I'm surely not easy to please, but I've found nothing wrong with the Fit, except for the attention that it gets. A 93 truck lets you disappear in the crowd.

Also have carried 4 adults, toddler in car seat, dog in the far back and a heavy suitcase on a long trip....yielded 35 mpg and slightly uncomfortable back passengers (I was driving so I didnt mind nearly as much....=)
