LEDs

Where's the best place to purchase a good variety of really bright, long-lasting (dependable), reasonably-priced LED replacement bulbs for my GE, and other cars I own? (dome, cargo, map, backup, etc.)

I know several sites, including eBay, Amazon, SuperBrightLeds, etc... I just don't know which place has the best prices and the most dependable/durable bulbs.

Thanks in advance, all.

I just did mine on a GD3 from Ebay. Got all cree projectors, interior, 4 pack halogens, and Depo tail lights for around $200 and that was the best price I cound find outside of ordering from China.

I have a set of Superbrights in mine.

Make sure they're bright enough. I compared the lumen specs between Sylvania and Superbright and got the closest match.

For taillights you need the brightest they offer. They're comparable to OEM. Anything less would be unsafe. Model 7443-R45-T
Pay the extra and get the HP series. The cheaper ones have a greenish tint to them.

All in, I put about $100 into them.

Tail/brake (need 2): 7443-R45-T (red)
License plate (2): WLED-WWHP6-AC (warm white)
Front marker (2): WLED-AHP6-AC (amber)
Dome (1): 3022-WWHP4 (warm white)
Cargo (1): WLED-WWHP15-TAC (warm white)

Measuring from the battery with the engine off:
- Car on, engine off, no lights: 38W
- Car on, engine off, parking lights: 66W
- Car on, engine off, LED parking: 41W

That means the power used for lights themselves went from 28W to 3W.
The dome and cargo lights draw next to nothing now, so I don't worry about draining the battery when I'm loading/unloading.

Can you guys post some pictures? I have LED interior lights in my SUV and would love to get some for the Fit.

PaleM - Good to see you here. I remember you from another site (cackalak was my SN). Did you get rid of the Civic?

Ah, I remember you. Yep. Just this spring I traded it for the Fit. She hit 200k miles just before that. The Fit gives me more utility by far.

I took pictures outside but not of the interior. Honestly it's hard to tell the difference. The external lights match OEM pretty well. The dome is brighter and whiter, and the cargo light is MUCH brighter, which it needed badly.

Here's a link with pictures on another forum. It also shows the greenish tint to the cheaper LED's.

Yeah, I traded my Civic as well (221k miles) a while ago. The Fit definitely has 10x more utility function than the Civic, while retaining the same MPG (mine was the EX, so not as good MPG wise as the LX/DX).

Thanks for the links. Rear hatch is the main reason I want to go LED. The light on the side is very annoying, though. Wish they had mounted the light up top. I feel like I'm looking into the sun everytime I look for things on the left side of the cargo area.

Oh, that reminds me - I tried a turn signal LED and couldn't stand the hyper-flashing.

I've since noticed that both Honda and Toyota (and probably others) use LED tail/brake lights but standard turn signal bulbs.

You're going to get hyper-blinking with any LED in a turn signal. I didn't bother with those or with reverse lights, since they don't get used much. I went for the busy ones like tail and brake lights and license plate.

@2poler: are the 7w cree reverse lights noticeably brighter than the stock bulbs?

The video is about how I would explain it. When looking at it, it seams about the same but it does light up farther back. I can make a short video tonight if you want to see these exact ones. mine are on a GD3

*Edit - I do got the super blink with the hazards and turn signals when I put all cree's in but I kinda like it.

My alley is weird. Where I took the vid bright as can be, in the parking area pitch black but on an angle so you cant see anything and the lights point to the roof? Best I could do at home?
