Cabin filter question

Cabin filter question
My B1 (or was it B2?) minder came on and when I went to replace the cabin filter, every auto parts store I went to said they could order one as nobody had it in stock and it was in the range of ~$35.
Is $35 the going price for the filter and where do the rest of you get one without having to order it? The dealership?

good grief. Just get some furnace filters from the hardware store and cut them to size. You may have to stack one on top of the other to fit in the slot, but it is a LOT cheaper than buying a filter from a dealer. I do this for all my cars.

Psst! Filters are now made for most every application AND to size so there is no need for stacking or cutting.

Oh look- here's one now-----

This is the brand that I bought last. Looks like I got a deal based on this current price.

^Yes it appears so, here is a link for convenience
honda fit cabin air filter in eBay Motors | eBay
Free shipping is nice too. I just like to avoid going through Paypal for small purchases so I use Amazon, but I know some eBay sellers take Visa/MC/etc as well.

I like PayPal for small purchases. I own a 2009 Fit with only 1900 miles on it because I refuse to drive around to buy from high priced local stores. I am retired and don't have a daily commute, and my wife insists on driving her Scion XB for regular shopping. I don't argue with her. The savings on my car by using the Internet for shopping is extremely beneficial.
Parts stores cannot give you the low prices of Internet vendors. Period. Use your time and your dollars and your Fit wisely.

I was skeptical when you first posted (mental picture of fiberglass filter material getting sucked into the blower), but your explanation is good.
I'll probably still order the filter from Honda, I tried the TYC filter last time. It required some fiddling to fit, and then seemed not to have the same filtering ability the Honda part has. The Honda filter always came out black; maybe it's impregnated with activated charcoal or maybe it does a better job with soot sucked in from other cars. The TYC came out grey. Completely subjective, but ordering online once per year along with my wiper refills, it's pretty cheap maintenance.

Ordered mine from Bernardi needed a few others things like air filter and wiper refills (seems no one sells just the refills) cost $20 and reduced shipping for just a cabin filter. Where you are located would be there the next day.

Don't pay someone to install it!! You can do it yourself in about 5 minutes. It's super easy.

Yes, $57 of that is LABOR. LOL. I used to work at Honda and that was just ridiculous for a cabin filter replacement. LOL
