The sad state of body shops and repair people

So for the last week I've been trying to find someone local to fix this dent on the rear quarter panel.
Luckily the paint didn't crack but it was such an eye sore! Drivers side too!

I had no luck with anyone cause every body repair shop and PDR guy clearly didn't know what they were doing saying that there was no way to get into that panel, and they had to go all out and refinish the whole area and quoted to be a $1200-1500 job!!!

I thought that at least someone could suction it out or get behind it.
And as I just picked up my Fit last Saturday, I had no clue what the access points were or even if they existed. Youd think a body shop guy would know to at least check!!

Makes me shake my head when after getting shot down by 3 PDR guys saying they couldnt do anything for me and getting quotes of $1000+ from collision centres I randomly found the one guy that knew exactly what he was doing.

I walked into this one place that I've driven past many a time, with an expectation of getting shot down again and being handed a huge repair bill. They got a guy from the shop to come out and take a look and give us his opinion.

he goes back to his shop grab a few tools and tries a suction cup first to see if he can pop out the dent but it was being stubborn.
Next thing I know he pops the trunk open and just dives right in and to my amazement within a minute he starts popping out the dent from the inside!!!!

I was like "theres an access point there?!??!??"

Now remember that I just picked this up a lil less than a week ago. I'm still learning here.
No excuse for all the people that actually work in the business to not know or even attempt to find the access point.
Should have known better myself.... thats how you get to the tail light!! Bah!!

Anyway heres the 5 mins work result.....

What you guys think?

Not unusually to get outrageous quotes and they will tell they have to do this and that or it will not be perfect and they would of done the same thing as the guy who fixed it for nothing and make a killing. I hate getting quotes.

PDR is a process where it's suppose to cost only a fraction of a typical bodyshop work would cost.

looking at your damage, it appears to be PDR-able to about 95%, but would cost a tech a lot of time... making the project not very profittable vs doing small dings at used car lots for a lot more money in the same amount of time.

would you have done the work if the PDR tech quoted you ~$500 for 95% fix?

it's all about money. and not to help the cause, your car being just a honda fit, they dont sense the urge to really get passionate about doing any favors to fix it. that's just reality.

best you go to a honda certified bodyshop and just get it fixed that way. GL!
