Cool Avg. wait time from build date?

I found a local dealership who's slated to get a Lunar Mist automatic -- the exact Fit I want -- next month, and so far no one has claimed it. Their system is showing a 10/10 build date, and the price I was quoted (in writing!) seems very reasonable. I'm tempted to put a deposit down, but I still have a few questions. And I'd prefer to hear other buyers' experiences instead of relying solely on what the dealership tells me....

Are the build dates you guys are getting generally pretty accurate? And how long does it usually take for your car to arrive once it's been built? I can wait till early November, but any longer than that and I'm going to have to settle for an xB.

Thanks for your input!

Emily

My build date was April 7th, it arrived at my dealer on May 17th.

Normally, according to my dealer, and several folks that I know, it typically takes about 3-4 weeks.

If they can show you a printout with the build date, then you can count on the car being built within a day or two of that, from what I hear. 4-6 weeks for delivery after that is normal. Go for it!

If That's the car you really want, and you are satified with the price, then don't wait. Put down that deposit on the basis that the car that will be produced on 10/10 will be yours. Most folks will get their car about four weeks after the production date. And, most folks will wait a lot longer than that to get just the car they want in terms of color and configuration.

Lunar mist is pretty rare since it only comes on the base. 4-6 weeks til delivery is typical usually 3 weeks after the build date you should see a VIN which tells the dealer it has arrived in port from there it just how quickly it gets to the dealership figure 14-17 day for east coast 7-10 for west.

They never told me a build date, I went in at the end of August and they said that there will be 2 automatic sports at the end of September, so I put my deposit on a Black one. Now, a week from now is the end of September, and they havent heard anything about it coming into the states yet, I hope it comes soon....

You never know. When mine came in, they had no paperwork for it or anything and it was earlier than they'd expected by a few weeks. I had to wait a couple of days to pick it up because until they got I think the title that wasn't really a title? But they couldn't sell it to me because they didn't have the paperwork that showed they owned it, it had just shown up on their lot along with three silvers and a black. (One silver wasn't bought and one of the employees nabbed it up.)

New vehicles don't come with titles. They come with a Manufacturer's Statement of Origin. That document then gets turned into the local Department of Motor Vehicles for a title. When I had my 2000 Dodge Ram built for me, it was the MSO that I took to my DMV to get the original title for the truck.

Put a deposit down on July 3 for a Vivid Blue Pearl Base M/T. There were no orders for such a car, so they had to order one for me. I just recently got the build date for my fit (check the sig). So by the time I get my Fit I will have waited FOUR MONTHS!!! =o

Youll only have to wait two! If youve got a reliable car and the Fit is really the car you want, then why not wait? Thats my philosohpy.

My born-on date was 9/19, which was this week. We'll see how long it takes to come in! I'd bet around the end of October.

I think it was just good timing and some luck.

I wasn't limited to any particular color. Looking for a Fit Sport with AT was fairly easy to locate. Long waits were the norm in the Indiana and Ohio dealerships that I called. Costco's buying program could not offer any deal that was better than MSRP and didn't decrease the wait time any.

I just found a dealership that happened to have one Fit Sport for late Sept and it fit the bill. As soon as I located it I made a deposit and that was it.

It's a completely different story for Hawaii. No such luck there.

The big winner... my daughter will get some wheels.

I don't want to pi$$ off some people (Jonas) but I went to the dealership on Aug. 28 and ordered my White Sport, with black interor, M/T. Had a call while I was on the way to Jonas', it was the Salesman!!!!! My car was in
Went for a test drive, had 3 miles on it, and everything seemed ok. Once they clean it up and I could have a good look at it, MY CAR IS IN
Pics, if I can figure out how to do it.

Grrrr............... :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

(For everyone's info, I ordered my White Sport M/T back on June 6th, and though the order was accepted by the factory a couple weeks ago, there's no build date yet.)

JonasM

P.S. Congrats, Sam. I really am happy for you. Now figure out how to post pics!
