fit manual delayed

So I ordered my fit sport manual last week and they said it should be built in december ad be here by january. Well over the weekend they checked the status of the order and Honda has temporarily stoped production of the Fit Manual transmision. So now I have to wait for a january production run to recieve the car in march. I like my civic alot so I dont mind drivving it for a while longer, but I'm a bit frustrated to have to wait 5 months for a car.

Someone should make a stick shift documentary. To spread stick shift propaganda. The % of stick shift drivers in the US is tragic.

I don't think they would stope anything. I don't even know how to stope something.

Anyway, this whole 'no manual trannies' is, at best, a very widely circulated rumor that a lot of us are getting from dealers. I wouldn't trust a dealer to know what's going on with actual production. They could be right, but unless I saw some official document, or heard from a reliable source, I wouldn't believe it.

I wish I could agree but in this case my dealer is also a close family friend and occasional buisness associate, there really is a delay, which blows.

Hmm... I hope it's only rumor... I 'ordered' a Fit Sport MT a few months ago, and in August was givin a build date of Sept 19, and an ETA of approximately six weeks from then... which would be in the next couple weeks.

I emailed the internet sales manager I was dealing with, but haven't heard anything in the last couple weeks... I'm going to call this weekend and see if he has any info on the car.

Well, if you had a build date in september, then you're OK. Mine was built Oct 9th, and I now have a VIN and it's on the boat. Sounds like the last ones will be late Oct/early Nov, and they are all spoken for.

(Assuming this it's all true).

I called Honda USA customer service, and was told they had slowed production, but did not know if it would resume.

Maybe, maybe not. That they are still being built in October is not in question. These cars are generally spoken for before the build date, so for the factory to decide 'no more' once these are built (say the end of the month) is not impossible.

Only time will tell. Of course, even continued Manual production wouldn't disprove the theory, since Honda could have changed its mind. Honda is secretive enough that those of us who have owned Hondas for decades, and are used to the comapany's close-lipped attitude, are used to dealers genuinely getting the story wrong. Toss that in with the dealers who make up news to tell you, since Honda isn't talking, and you get an environment rampant with rumors and theories.

Ask me again in February....

I was told a few weeks ago when I called that my order for a sport MT had been accepted by Honda with a build date in November (no exact date though). I had been in their 'ordered the car' book and was now in the 'order accepted by Honda' book. So assuming (yea, I know) that this is right, they will at least be building some MT's thru Nov.....

They damm well better be - I'vre been waiting since the end of May...That's what you get when you want MT and won't comprimise on color, I guess.....

Just a thought

Don't know if the M/T's will stop or not, but I think dealers say that to get you to buy what is ever available. "Better to make a sell now then let the customer get away" I ordered a M/T back in August, but that car ended up going somewhere else. Who knows??? But my reordered car was made on 9-22 and it arrived yesterday. I pick it up this evening and it's a M/T. Good luck and hang in there. I think they will keep making M/T's for a while, they just don't make many of them.

Strange. My dealer told me that I was in the 'order accepted' category back in early September, but then told me I was off the list because of the 'no more manuals' info. They got me the next available manual which was already allocated to them, so they didn't gain anything by swapping an order for one already coming in (except my money a little sooner, but it will still be 5 months from signed purchase order to delivery). Had the manual that was accepted by the factory been built, it would have been about the same time. What's a couple weeks in 5 months?
