are you sure it's a 1986?

I'm confused, because your pics show a zenki front and rear ends, with zenki interior...meaning 84-85 front grill, front marker lights, rear taillights, and trunk. A kouki (1986-87) AE86 should have a velour material door cards and seats as well as different front marker lights, grill, smoked taillights and a trunk with a black garnish.

Also the 10th digit on your VIN is F = 1985.

Otherwise, nice car. Decent price for a clean body =)

I have no idea what you are talking about. All I can say its an AE86. However, the VIN is AE88 because its a GTS not an SR5. An SR5 has an AE88 in the VIN.

You can read about it here:

Toyota AE86 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

So I'm not just making this stuff up. Yep, its a Zenki model with some modifications. Its not an SR5 conversion. Unfortunately, I don't have money to finish restoring it & its taking space at the garage. *I also need to finish my GD3!

BTW - in one of the photos, you can see the actual vin!

I wasn't implying that you're making stuff up or that it was an sr5. I was merely correcting the year of manufacture in the thread title. You stated it is a 1986, when the VIN says it's a 1985. Meaning it's a truely a 1985 (zenki) AE86 GTS.

10th digit in the VIN = F = 1985
AE88 in the USDM VIN = GTS
AE86 in the USDM VIN = SR5

The AE88 in the VIN should not be confused with the Chassis Model# which is AE86; Since the 88 in the vin represents model/trim while the 86 in the Model# represents 6th body revision of the 5th generation E type corollas.

Cleaned the 86' and posting some new photos. The car is still available, but a relative has offered an installment plan on the car. Nothing finalized yet though. Attended AE86 Nights this past Saturday. Surprisingly, my car was in better condition than alot at the meet.

Maybe. A relative offered to buy it in a month, but if you have the cash ready in-hand, I can sell it today. Send me a pm.

Local junk yard here has a red AE86. They won't sell me the whole thing though. Bastards.

Sold an AE86. Production year was late 85'. The GTS model has a vin of AE88. I won't get into the details. You can just review Google as to these designations. Someone close this thread already.
