I actually like the smaller size of the 135i, plus it basically a dead match performance wise for the 335i. If they do it right the 135i M (or 1M or whatever the name will be) should have some weight reduction and crazy suspension and brake upgrades... plus a valid warrenty

2Legit is right on the money.

my father in-law bought a showroom condition *takes a deep breath* 1973 mitsubishi lancer gsr safari rallye edition *phew* with 14,000 original miles from a collector in Japan. total price came to $9,000 shipped and registered. he took it to TORC two years ago, a mitsu. representative happened to be there and offered him $30k for it (denied the offer).

its still in the garage and mitsubishi still calls periodically upping the offer little by little

Buying an R8 wasn't really about spending wisely, it would have been more about doing something just for the sake of enjoyment. I have made a lot of smart choices over the years, but I maintain a simple philosophy that every once in a while you have to stop and enjoy the fruits of your labor.

As far as turning heads and cruising around the city go, you may have me confused with your average spoiled brat. For me I come from very humble beginnings, my first car I bought for 300$ and drove it for 2 years. The next couple of cars to follow that one weren’t much better. Really I learned not to care much of people think, for better or worse. With something like an R8 I would flat out be tracking/autocrossing it; it would be a shame just to drive it around to show off.

Like I mentioned before, it makes financial sense to buy something like this down the road; but I doubt 20 years down the road it would bring me as much enjoyment as it would now.

Thanks, but I am pretty sure the R8 is out for me though, the price is like 25K higher than it was last year. I wasn't counting on that, also the landscaping budget is killing me right now.

I should post up some pictures of the project so far, my new deck is freaking wicked!

My sights are locked on that new 1 series for next spring!

LOL for 141k one of these seems reasonable...
Technical Specs - Panamera Turbo - All Panamera Models - Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG

(I figured the Panamera since you're probably getting bugged about kids too by parents - although you're closer than I am...)

I used to get bugged a lot, but it has been about 10 years now since I met my wife so not so much anymore. My mom has resorted to back to her "passive aggressive nit-picking" and "trinket buying" state from "Grandma wannabe" mode

That aside, the GTR is a much better bargain for 100K... actually better on the track than the R8. But I wouldn't spend that much on a performance car with no manual tranny.

I was lucky to get to do an autocross event BMW hosted with the 1 series when they first introduced them. I got to drive the 128i against a 135i with and without the active steering, also they had a Monaco blue 135i that had a full performance exhuast and a wack of other aftermarket goodies on it... that thing FLEW through the autocross course!! I have been waiting for the M version ever since.
