Question How did your FiT response to this week's snow storm in Vancouver?!

I drive an AT. I felt it handle okay but feels that it is not too stable (I live in Richmond and they didn't clear the roads). What I did today after I got home from work is to load approximately 60lbs of weight into the trunk. I will give you guys a report tomorrow on how it handle on ICE.

Take care and drive safely!

Drove my wife to work early this morning and picked her up this afternoon with no problem at all. Just drove slow (no more than 40kph), kept decent distance from the car in front and easy on the gas and brakes.

Survived it with OEM All-Season tires.

I drive from Burnaby to North Van every day and didn't have any problems.

Spun the tires a bit on the ice but otherwise than that, I felt the car performed well enough

You live in Coquitlam as well? Which part are you from?

I only got stuck once and it's probably due to the lack of weight. On Sat night and Sunday, I drove from Coq to Richmond and back, Coq to West Van to Langley and back, all without trouble.

In the snow my Fit had absolutely zero issues on my LX 14 inch all-seasons. On the icy side roads last night and today, the lack of weight is noticeable if you do hit an ice patch. The lack of torque with the 1.5 vtec probably helps prevent wheel spin, as well as being a manual.

But I did manage to dig my old Mazda out of the snow today and drove it into the underground and put on my snow tires in the front. I think the Fit handled the ice slightly better than the Mazda when it also had just the All-seasons, but once the snow tires were on the Mazda, you can definately feel much more grip from the snow tires in turns and braking.

So when I have to go out again tonight, I might take the Mazda again. (and keep the Fit out of the harsh elements )

Question Fit(s)-in-Richmond

For those of us who live in the Richmond area, I found that a lot of the roads are not clear... anything pass Blundell towards Steveston... and it been extremely icy... I think even with me putting around 80lbs of weight in the trunk... I feel that the back the the car is slightly slippery on icy surface... perhaps I need snow tires?

I'm down south of you guys (about 2 or so hours) Mine is still sitting out in the yard buried in snow. (had over a foot drop here.. ) Plus they closed most of the roads here due to ice and stuff. Good to know a little weight will help. Sounds like a truck weighting, toss couple bags of sand over the rear axel and you are good to go. (cept with a truck you can just use snow in the bed.)

bumper cavity

We were in Vancouver all weekend of the 25th, and came back to the island on the 26th afternoon (took a shortcut around all the accidents :-). No problems at all with the stock all season tires. Love the brakes.

My only complaint now is the huge cavity in the rear bumper behind the back wheels and fender area. This has/had a huge build up of snow and ice in this area. Removing it I almost felt like I was going to damage the bumper. Honda really should have closed this area in better. I'm sure the rear mud guards didn't make this any easier.

I was also concerned about bit of water that got into the driver armrest controls when opening the window for the Ferry Ticket booth. They still work fine but it can't be good for it.

Fit LX 5 speed Milano Red.

I drive with my windows cracked or am opening them all the time, I constantly have water over the controls and such. I haven't had any issues yet. I do wish they would bring out the rain guard that goes over the top of the door to divert the rain or water out of the car though. They aren't out yet at least down here. Told my mechanic that if he sees them out, to let me know.

I live on Westwood Plateau, quite a bit of snow up here, and minimal plowing.
