The first 2 points are not taken into account for your insurance over here.

What you'll need to do is get a letter from your current insurance company stating how long you've been driving and how long it's been since you've had an accident.

ICBC will credit you those years as long as it's verifiable by the letter (BTW, they'll check with the insurance companies if they think the letter is fake).

The insurance over here works off of the basis where everyone starts at the same rate ie. no discount, and for each year you have driven with no at fault accidents, you are credited 5% discount, to a maximum of -40%.

Check out this part of ICBC.com that will tell you exactly what you need to do: ICBC - Autoplan Insurance - Basic Autoplan - Moving to B.C.

BTW, I have a -43% discount, 300 comprehensive, 500 collision, 2mil Third Party Liability and Roadside + package and I pay approx $1500 per year.

Our insurance is nothing like what you have down there, so you can't compare the two. Apples and oranges as they say....

If you get the letter(s) from your previous insurance company(ies) then you'll get a -30% discount.

You won't have to get the 'N' either when you change over your DL. Your AB DL is good for 90 days after you move to BC. Just take your DL and a second piece of ID into one of the Drivers Services Centres and they'll do it all for you there. You'll be asked a couple of 'traffic safety awareness' questions and have to do an vision screening test. Cost of the licence is $31 and it will be valid for 2 years. Subsequent renewals will be good for 5 years.

Man insurance is insurance...

If you get in a wreck does it pay to fix it?

If you total the car while paying on it does it pay it off?

If you hit someone else does it pay to fix thier ride?

With costs like that I will keep my apples and you can have all the oranges!

Quit thread crapping as this is about insurance premiums in BC, not where you are.

If you want to discuss the differences between your states insurance costs and BC insurance costs, you're more than welcome to PM me.

I am not thread crapping...

I simply made an observation about how much the insurance is up there and you got all bent out of shape saying its not the same thing!

Its not my fault it cost so much up there so dont take it out on me!
