big problem---car eats too much gas ! --HELP

hi guys
my fit has 8000kms, i got it in june 07 and it's automatic
ever since i got it, i can never have over 350km/tank on usally 91 oct. mostly i get is 320kms, but ever since i installed a aftermarket intake, it takes even more gas !!!now may be 300kms/tank
help what should i do ?
i drive ever so light already, which means i never go above 3000kms and i don't have a heavy feet anymore ....sucks cuz i thought fit was light on gas.

and if i bring it back to dealers, all they are going to say is drive slower-i think.

anyways help
thx

Switch to lower octane fuel and save money in the process. Go ten tanks on lower octane and then compare your gas mileage. Also, is that 320km based on when the gas light comes on? There is at least 5 litres of gas still in tank when light comes on. I travel 80km on a regular basis after the light comes on. You don't have to drive slow, in fact the car should burn gas more efficiently at a higher speed. However quickly accerating from a full stop will increase your gas mileage.

I can get 350km out of every 32L or so? And I shift at 3500rpm-4000rpm usually. Got a Fit sport 5MT here.

I get the same 350km with a bigger tank on my civic SiR before. So I've NO complain.

U did your first oil change yet btw?

91 is actually a reg gas at my gas station
but ill try to run even lower
i dont accelate fast but do go 120km all the time... in fact I set cruise control at that speed for 5 min at atime may be 4 times a day as i live on the hwy.

i have 8000kms and the oil percentage say 20% ..no i havne't done my first oil change but i will need to go get a check up soon as after installing coilovers it doesn't drive stright ...might as well get it done then.
any idea what the dealer ship does during first check up ?

Geez. I'm on my first tank of gas, I'm at over 300km, and still am at the over half a tank mark. I'll be interested to finally see what I'm getting per tank.

I remember reading somewhere that the Fit runs best on 87 octane.

USE LOW OCTANE, KEEP A/C / DEFROST MODE OFF!! Otherwise 350km/tank is normal.

Sure in the summer time with no A/C or defrost needed I was doing 450km a tank but now when i have to use the defrost my milage is like 375km before i fill up. I could stretch it but i fill up right away.

I tried 89 & 92 myself. Engine runs smoother, quicker & response quicker with 92. So I've been sticking with 92 for over a year now. Unless I'm doing lapping event if not it doesn't really matter if I shift it at 5000rpm most of the time or 3000rpm...

Agreed with Spoonek4 and Sumo. I use Shell V-Power and as Spoonek4 said, the car is much smoother and responsive. When filling up, like Sumo, always fill up yourself because you can slowly fill about 5-6 L after the first click, that will bring the mileage of the tank to over 400KM. Must admit that the fuel consumption not a good as I expected but since I drove a van before, this is much better. I'm getting about 11-12Km / L in city driving.

Oh I only fill up my car til the first click myself. Just take it easy Felixy69 don't get panic that easily. If u didn't do your oil change yet then do it soon(if u have over 1000km already I meant).

Could someone be stealing your gas?
It was popular to steal gas when I was in highschool... and that was when gas was cheap.
