T1R Racing Convertor problems... FIXED!!!

***UPDATE 2007-11-10"***

I just spent $50 this morning... problem solved!!!

I got it fixed today... I went to a good exhaust shop and the tech looked at the straight pipe and said right away that the flange on the end was the wrong size. He grabbed a flange he had lying around, cut the old one off and put on the correct sized one - now my straight pipe is a stock fitting and uses the factory gasket !!!

I now have a perfect honda-straight pipe!

Let that be a warning to anyone out there - Straight pipe might not work with stock exhaust manifolds, but it can be made to work

~Cheers

***ORIGINAL POST***

Installed... I've been driving with non stop exhaust smell filling the cabin; anyone else have this problem?

It's stock exhaust otherwise.

I've removed and attempted to re-fit the pipe twice with no success; tomorrow I will remove and check to see if there is any metal binding that is preventing a perfect seal. I'm disappointed with this item.

Thanks for confirming that the smell is stronger/more gaseous with the test pipe; I figured that part was normal because the sensor is being tricked so the mixture is much richer.

However, I think it is leaking because when I put my vent on "outside" mode the inside of my car gets full of fumes... Is this normal?

I am going to re-fit it one more time tonight - making sure that no metal from the stock exhaust manifold is binding on the inside of the test pipe (I'll look for wear/rub marks). I want it to work - it sounds better and feels better, just the fumes are making me nauseous.

it's normal. what's happening is that instead of having the cat burn off all the excessive emissions, it's going straight through.

Close examination has shown that I was given the wrong o-Ring gasket (before I wasn't given the gasket and told to use the old one). UGH!!!

Yes, the fumes are filling the cabin space making me nauseous when I drive.

I will try it one more time with correct O-Ring gasket. The damn pipe has been on and off like 7 times now - pissing me off.

~Cheers

***UPDATE 2007-11-10***

See original Post - I took it to a good shop here in the lower mainland (burnaby) and they solved my problem!!!
