that is a pretty sweet idea, and the roof of the Fit is so tall it wouldn't have much risk of bumping your head

I'd not enjoy my snowboard drippin water on me the entire ride back though. I like utilizing the drop down seats.

I'd also be worried about what the cargo would do in a crash. I too would use the fold down seats.

^^Truth

Plus it looks like there's nothing securing the boards in place either, will slide around during turns. and you KNOW there are alot of turns going up and down the mountains

Interesting idea, but I'd rather just invest in a proper roof rack. Can't have that dripping all over after a day of snowboarding.

Boards on Drop down Seats

Look at the crash tests on the Fit. Anything on the seats are going flying, during a crash, too, if they're not tied down securely.

Very interesting idea! but....
I don't see it being safe, not even by a little bit.
-60/40
-long mode
-roof rack... FTW

I keep thinking about all the ways it could go wrong...hahaaa
I can entertain some pretty funny yet horrible disasters good times....

oooh... just thought of another extreme sport! HAHAHAAAA

It's an interesting concept, just needs a few mods to address a few details that a couple folks have already mentioned. Water dripping your board/ski/surfboard and some way to brace them up better to keep them from sliding around. Basically what you have there is an internal roof rack. Keeps the car aero dynamic, hides the stuff so people cant see to steal. Not a bad idea for a car with headroom like the FiT, just make sure you're not a tall person or it won't do you much good.
