soon to be Fit owner - question on clear bra

Hello,

Thanks for all the great info on here. I'm hoping to buy my first Fit, an 09 Sport MT, this weekend. I live in northern BC and will be coming down to the coast to buy, and I'm interested in getting tint and possibly a clear bra done while I'm down there.

I searched on this forum and saw PH Solar Tinting and N-Motion were recommended, so I'll check them out for tinting.

As far as the clear bra, I didn't see any posts, but I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this? I'm not sure if it will look lame in certain lights, but up here they liberally gravel the roads all winter, so regardless of avoiding tailgating, rocks get thrown up in all directions in the spring, so if the clear bra could help prevent dings and chips that would be awesome. A google search brought up Vancouver ClearBra, and I see from N-Motion's site they do a clear protective film as well. Anyone have any experience with them or others?

Any advice would be much appreciated, thanks!

If I remember correctly DownTown Auto Spa does the clear bra's, my friend got his Rabbit done by them and they do very good work. They also did his window tint too and hooked him up with a good deal.

GET CLEAR BRA
I regret not getting it now... I lived in calgary (where they also love gravel) and the whole front end of my fit is pitted.. it looks like the night sky with all the rock chips.
I had my front bumper replaced after it was damaged, and this spring I am having my hood re painted and then I WILL get the clear bra done... it is a WISE investment so you wont have to spend money down the road (like me )

From what I hear, as long as you dont get the cheap stuff... it will look really good and wont like..... fade or turn yellow over time.

Thumbs up Get it!

But there are other good products out there as well.

On my '07 Fit, I had Xpel. It worked very well and protected the paint from rock chips and scratches.

On my '09 Fit I have Durashield. It is not as thick, but accomplishes the same thing. It may take a few nicks from larger rocks, but the paint underneath stays perfect.

I would recommend that whatever you do, ask them to cover the entire hood of the car. I didn't do it on my previous Fit, and I could see the upper hood area marred by around a dozen or so chips. I fixed it with touch-up paint, but it's never as good. Because my '07 Fit's paint was in such good shape, I got a better resale value out of it too.

I have it on my 09, it looks good. It'll do what I want it to do (protect my hood) and is nearly invisible. It was a must have for me.

I live rural southern Ontario and had the clear bra put on my 07 blue sport within a week of purchase June 07.
The hood, mirrors, front quarter, entire front end don't have a mark on them. My old vehicle had lots of chips and it made me crazy.

I agree with the comment to do the entire hood. Mine is 3/4 done as he had a larger piece than the template called for (1/2 way) but it is the only line that is ever noticable (depending on which way you look)

It was only last week that my colleages noticed the "line" on the hood. I had been parking the first spot at the office door, where we all stand for our breaks, for 1 1/2 years and they just noticed the line.

It was very expensive to have the whole front end of the sport done here....don't know the name brand of what I got but have had no issues and not one chip.

Be careful waxing....lol...you could end up with a lot of white lines to clean up depending on the type of wax you use.

Thanks for all the input everyone! I bought an 09 sport MT and got the 3M protective film on the whole hood and front end and so far it seems great.

Thanks for all the advice!
