Thumbs up Canucks.....Post your gas mileage here!

Thought I start a thread on gas mileage people are getting with their GE8 FiTs.

Let me start. Am on my first tankful with 200 kms. Fuel consumption based on the trip computer is 7.7 Ltrs/100 Km.... mostly city driving.

Expect it to further improve as engine goes through the break-in process.

Yeah, and if the computer says 7.7L/100km, it actually means 8.7L/100km.....

The best i've got so far after my first oil change was 6.8L/100km (not based on the overly optimistic computer). I am trying really hard on this tank and it looks like I will be getting 6.5L/100km.....

Came back from a day trip to Whistler and the best reading so far yet...6.6 Ltrs/l00 Kms. Nothing to write home about.

I had 4 people on board and drove normally (not exactly like aFitFreak!).

Here's a photo of our visitors; Danny Rivera (my former flight instructor) and son, Christian Rivera.

You should get better gas mileage after the first oil change, and should see a bit more after the third.

The odometer is reading 3,400+ Kms. Scheduled for an oil change on Wednesday.

Just did my first oil change a few days ago (Castrol GTX 0W-20 SAE). Mileage has gone from bad to worst! Now getting 8.8 Ltrs/l00 Kms.......guess it must be because the A/C is on continuously due to the HOT& sunny weather in YVR.

I don't really know how you guys are getting 5.8 Ltrs/100 Km (or better)??? Are you coasting 95% of the time???

I have so far driven 510 km on my first tank and the light is not on yet. I will report back tomorrow night probably when and if I need to get gas.
beng, how do u drive? is yours a manual transmission? If you're getting 8.8L/100km, do u rev to 4000rpm for every shift. I find it it is easy to overrev in the manual trans since the pedal is so light.

Mine is an auto and I am light footed. Easy on the gas, but keep the A/C on 100% nowadays because of the heat!

AC is a huge toll on fuel efficiency. If you turn ur AC off and let ur windows hang, then ur gas mileage will be in the low 7s. try that for a change!!

Yes, I was in fact getting between 7.5 to 7.8 before the weather got awfully hot.

On a long drive to Whistler and back, the gas mileage was down to 6.5 Ltrs/100 Km.

Topped off my gas tank in Blaine, Wa. before heading home.
By the time I arrived, the trip computer was showing 6.4 Ltrs./100 Kms. Had the A/C on all the time; best reading so far.
