gas mileage in hawaii?

Hey guys. Just bought a '10 sport auto and currently averaging around 22mpg. I got it a month ago and already near 1000 miles. I have a 5 mi drive to work from kaimuki to Ala moana. What kind of mileage are you guys getting?

I drive pretty conservative and just wondering if the constant stoplights are bring my mileage down.

Exclamation Mpg

I don't know but it sounds like to me that you are "not" getting the right mileage out of you vehicle.
I have a 08 Fit and commute from Ewa B. to Manoa daily and before I installed a performance module and an air intake system I was averaging 33 mpg
Now that I have those things going for me I'm hittin' anywhere between ( at 55-60 mph) 37 and 40 mpg Albeit I am traveling on a straightaway with no stopping involved.
22 mpg seems awfully low to me, check into that

the shorter driving you do, the worse mileage you get, the car doesnt get to warm up and its still in open loop mode so it uses more gas..

yeah pretty much, the car doesn't really get to warm up. i guess it's just my daily routine. Drive from Kaimuki to Ala Moana in about 10 minutes while hitting every light with the AC on, then about 2 trips up to St. Louis Heights to the girl's house. I RARELY ever get on the highway. I baby this car and have yet to redline or try to see how it accelerates.

About 27 city and 34 when I drive to the country. Most of my driving is around town. Give it time, your car is still new. In the beginning, I was getting about 24 city.

22 is really low. drive it like you stole it for a week or two and see if it improves. or at least try and get on the freeway and floor it a few times.

if i drive like a maniac i get about 27

Do you know if there are any meets now or how large or small they are?
I can't seem to find any with just Fits on Oahu.

even though there are a lot more Fits on the road, i barely see some of the FitFreakers.

Yeah, brah..I noticed that very few Fits are sporting the Fit Freak decals as well. Maybe we could get together and collaborate on getting some kind of Fit meet someday soon.

Ah, I gotta tell brah, that video you got on your page is "Completely off the chain". LOL

Thanks for posting your guys' mpg. I was getting 26-30 and I was reading the other mpg thread in one of the general forums and I was curious if it was me, my car, or because the mainland. 26-30 sure beats the 20 I got with my truck. It'll help when the $5 gallons come.

I normally get 32 mpg driving from Mililani to work (Kapolei or Dillingham). My 1st Fit (GD3) was an automatic (traded it in for a MT) and was only getting around 27/28 mpg.

It is weird that I was thinking to myself about what it would be like to own and drive a Fit in Hawaii... I was thinking that mileage figures wouldn't be so good due to the amount of traffic on the roads but I can see from some of the post that my thinking was off.. There are some really great looking cars there from what I have seen here on FitFreak.
