HulaCross - Exciting Extreme Rally & Car Crush - Nov 13th!

HulaCross is back in action at Kalaeloa Raceway Park! On November 13th, 2010, at 8AM the gates open for the second of our extreme rally events!

What is Hula-X?

Hula-X (AKA Hulacross) is a play on words mixing the native Hawaiian meaning for dance and the cross in rallycross. Hula-X racing consists of continuous lapping on a mixed terrain course consisting of dirt, coral, and aphalt. Beginning heats will last for 15 minutes of lapping with the best times posted as your spot time. Final Heats will be determined by these spot times taken early in the day with your best time as the final result. Initially, the event will center around timed lapping but as the series progresses, we'll focus more and more on wheel to wheel offroad racing, depending on the advancement of our drivers.

The course will also feature passing zones, tabletop jumps, and mud pits where the best will be separated from the rest. There will also be a bit of strategy involved...you have the option of avoiding the tabletops and mudpits at your discretion, but possibly with a loss of time as you take alternate routes. All in all, it will be some of the first off-road action of it's kind on Oahu. Hulacross is also an inside joke...so if any of you hulagans are down for some offroad racing, then join us on Saturday as we tear it up.

Rules & Classes

Although personal vehicles are allowed, the course is designed primarily for a dedicated off-road vehicle mentality. We think you'll have more fun if you're not worried about driving to work in the same vehicle the following Monday. Classes will be limited to FWD, RWD, AWD, & Unlimited (ie, total race) vehicles. No ATVs or Motorcycles will be allowed on course due to insurance restrictions.

All vehicles must be of sound body and construction and in decent running order and have at the minimum DOT standard seatbelts in place. Vehicles do not have to be street legal or registered. Vehicles with a high center of gravity will only be allowed at the discretion of the Event Manager. Participants must have helmet, long pants, shirts, and closed-toe shoes. For those of you interested in competing in the Wheel 2 Wheel class, we are looking for window nets & roll cages primarily. Additional safety equipment may be required.

Entrant fee is $50 plus $10 parking. Gates will open at 8AM, Driver's Meeeting at 8:30, Race at 9AM.

We are in need of volunteers, so if you're interested please contact Michael Kitchens @ (808) 782-7432 or support@kalaeloaracewaypark.com

Local Style Car Crush by DH Built!

In addtion, on the same day, we'll have the local style car crush by DH Built! We'll be sending our remaining Powderpuff Demo Derby cars off in style as we hold a car crushing competition! You won't want to miss it as we do it local style!

Admission to the park is only $10. Children under 10 get in free.

HulaCross was AWESOME!
Mike Ward ended up being the fastest time of the comp...and won $400 buckaroos. 2nd was Boy Moniz, 3rd was Avery Tsui in his Mazda Miata. Brandon Moniz won the INSANE Tabletop Jump contest. We had alot of variety...we had a Toyota Camry, Izuzu Rodeo, Buick LeSabre, Izuzu Amigo, Mazda 323, Lincoln Town Car, Nissan S13s, a buncha pickup trucks, vans, broncos/blazers and a whole bunch of other crazy stuff.
All of the photos have been posted (600+) on our KRP & BTT Facebook pages Facebook including our second HulaCross Event, including the Tabletop Jump Contest, and DH Built Car Crush! All HulaCross action photos courtesy of Cory Tomoyasu, Tabletop Jump & DH Built from Shawn Bautista. Big thanks to Cory for providing the majority of the photos. Some incredible stuff!
