Highest price asked by dealer for Fit
I just registered today...thought I'd start a new thread if this isn't already started. We helped my daughter get a Fit in the SF South Bay Area recently for just under MSRP (picked up 3 weeks ago), so when I saw a Taffeta White Sport Auto Fit (Beige interior) at our local dealer, I wanted to see what they were asking.
LOL, almost $25000!!! If I had my digital camera with me, I would have taken a picture of it.
They had added on paint protector, bumper protector, carpets, cargo cover, alarm, locking lugs, etc...but were charging almost 4X list for many of them and then adding on installation fee of almost as much. So about $4000 in accessories and $4000 in dealer charges. Around $8000 in extras. The Fit may be a great car, but not a $25000 great car.
Anyone see a higher price?

When I was calling around looking for a Fit in June I found a dealership with 3 in stock, including the one I wanted. I was talking with one of the salesmen about holding it for me since it was a 2 hour drive away. Then the manager (Shamus, he had a thick Irish accent) asked if I knew about the mark-up. I'd been hearing $500-1,500 around the bay so thats what I figured, but then he told me $4,995. I started laughing. This was the dealership in Roseville btw

Took pictures of the car and price this AM, trying to download to this site.
But the tag shows MSRP $16520
Dealer installed options: Wheel lock 299, Cargo cover 499, Cargo Tray 299, Floor mats 399, All weather 399, Bumper protector 299, Alarm pursuit 995, and PermaPlate 995
AND Added markup $3995
So with $4184 of dealer installed options and Added markup,
Dealer's asking price $24,699
VIN JHMGD38627S018090
2007 Fit 5DR Sport Taffeta White with Beige Interior
South Bay Honda
Los Gatos, CA
I did not buy here, was just interested when I saw one on the lot. I am sure it won't sell for anywhere near that price. Maybe they think that a buyer will come in, negotiate $5000 of and think they got a good deal???
I wonder what they are asking for an extended warranty?

You should really call Honda and let them know about that. I heard somewhere that they dont like dealer mark-ups at all, so serious price gouging should be dealt with. The wheel locks are like $35 bucks too.

I went there. Saw THAT CAR there. It's 24,XXX but the extra stuff is not added onto the car yet.. It going for $16,5XX. I almost bought that car today, but I am waiting for a silver one to show up. Go talk to Al about the price on that white Fit. They want $16,5XX. Tell Al, Tom told you about the price.
"Maybe they think that a buyer will come in, negotiate $5000 of and think they got a good deal???"
That's their goal. But they really only want $165XX + mark up.

I already got one...Concord Honda, $100 off MSRP with no add ons.
I live near South Bay Honda...within walking distance. I just happened to see the Fit and Beige interior (looks nice) and saw the sticker.
So I'm not currently in the market. Like I said, I'm sure they won't sell it for that price, but they might drive away potential buyers with that sticker in the window.

Honda Cars of McKinney in McKinney, Texas had (don't know if they still have the car) a black auto Sport marked at $24995. I couldn't stop laughing when I saw the sticker. This was about 2 weeks ago. I wonder if anyone ever bought that car...I need to drive by again and see.

$25K for a Fit??? That's ridiculous! For that price, I'd rather get a fully stocked Civic, a Toyota Prius or a new Toyota Camry (reg or hybrid). I'd never pay over MSRP for any vehicle, it's just not worth it. Dealers make plenty of profit at MSRP pricing, there no need to gouge deeper. Frankly, I'd rather wait than pay over MSRP, or just get another vehicle...

I didn't pay anything like the numbers being seen here, but I did pay a bit over MSRP. The upside is that one week after leaving my deposit I was driving a BOM AT Sport Fit with less than 10 miles on the odometer. Considering that every other place I looked was talking 90 days, and no gurantee on delivery time, this was a pretty good deal.
The dealer that my wife bought her '03 Accord from said that most dealers were asking $2k over MSRP, and getting it. The only way I was going to get down to MSRP was to order the car from the ground up and wait a few months. I felt a lot better about my deal after hearing that.

My dealership says that they only get in 3 to 5 FITS per month and they have NO SAY as to which color and which models with which transmissions they get.
They claim that they don't see Base FITS only FIT sport and mostly AT not manual transmission.
You cannot order any FIT from the ground up since the cars are so limited in arrival. Your best bet is to want and order the FIT Sport AT which is about the only thing that arrives (not the cheapest of FITs).
In my area $3000+ over MSRP is normal and people do pay that much.
If you belong to costco you can get a FIT for $2000 over MSRP for your trouble.
Why do people pay this much? Just to be one of the 3 lucky ones to get a FIT now and not have to wait until the demand for it dies down. Just to be different. Just to have a cool car.
I think Honda is loosing out in keeping the inventory so lean. Buyers are getting disgusted and going elsewhere.

I ordered my fit from Jeff Wyler Honda in Cincinnati over 2 months ago... they told me it would be 8-10 weeks to get it in. Then I hear nothing for 8 weeks. I went in there the other day and threw a fit, guess they didnt like that much They told me that my car is 'scheduled to be assembled beginning October 13' and would be in sometime late in October or early November. Amazing, they couldnt tell me this earlier, but it takes me making a scene to get even an approximate date, and I heard the same thing, they only get in 1-2 per month, and cannot determine which one... what kind of idiocy is this new car business? Am I the only person that thinks about supply and demand?

So is the rest just dealer markup? Outrageous!
