Chicago, IL Dealership

I've been dealing with several dealership so far. Unfortunately no one sell it below MSRP price .
From the dealership that I've been dealing with, I can give review for some of them:

Honda of Lisle: Last time I had an appointment with the internet guy on certain day. However, when I get there he wasn't there . So I deal with another sales guy. From the first moment, I know that he's lying about the inventory. At first he said that this car is available because of so and so, however you know what after the manager came (I'm not sure if that's really his manager or not), the manager said something different from what this guy said. To put it in another words, the sales guy said this car is available because of reason A but the manager said this car is available because of reason B.
And you know what, they add accessories on that car so that they can sell it with higher price.
Oh well...I walk away.
However, the positive side from this dealership is they have one car special for test drive. May be because they're one of the big dealership in town.

Ed Napleton Honda @ Oaklawn, IL:
On the email the sales guy said that he can sell honda fit with this price only if I bought it from him. You know what his price is below MSRP price. The first dealership I've ever known who's willing to sell the car below MSRP price. It's quiet tempting at first but not after I read their review on dealerrater.com.

Thumbs down

You got it right about Honda of Lisle. Went in to test drive their Fit. Ask for a price afterwards and the Sales Manager says around 16,600 and we throw on a convenience package for you which brings the total to around $17,100.

I asked what if I am not interested in the convenience package? They said they would sell it without one. I asked about availablity and they said 60-90 days. That's when I got up and said thanks, I'll shop around. Suddenly they had one available in 2 weeks and they would call me when they get the details on Monday.

Monday comes and it's not the sport i want but the base auto. OK, I said, I'll take it. How much? Wanted a $2,000 deposit to hold it and then they would right up the P.O. and fax it over for me to review. I was shocked when I sale the selling price 16,172. That was a markup of $927 over MSRP.

I reminded them that I didn't want the $500 convenience package that now was $927 which was just for all season floor mats, trunk tray and rear applique. They said ALL our Fits come with the convenience package. I said that's not what you said 2 days ago and that you'd remove it. They said maybe I was referring to their environmental package. I was going to ask if that was another rippoff package they offerred, but was clear that we were talking about convenience package as my family joked how convenience it was for them to get all that extra cash for a few accessories.

Sorry, the parts have been ordered they said. They offered to sell me one without out if I'd like to wait 60-90 days. Got my $2,000 back and ran as fast I as could to another dealer.

Working with another Chicago area dealer that has been a pleasure to deal with ($100 under MSRP). Will post again when the car gets delivered.

And keep running from deals like that! This is an entry-level car, folks! I bought mine AT MSRP and had the dealership do NOTHING to the car...not even drill for license plates on the front. They understood where I was coming from, and respected it. I would never buy from a place that forces a customer into a 'package' that does not truly come on the car from the factory.

I tried Continental Honda in Countryside going through CarkPerks which is offered through my job. Got an email back saying "i have one available. sport, auto. orange. will be in in two weeks. call" ....

I emailed back asking the price and if they had something to test drive. Got a response back 8 days later asking if I was still interested. Driving by the dealership on a Sunday I saw no Fits, but an Accord marked up $2000 with a couple of accessories. I figured they were similar to Honda of Lisle in that regard.

I called Grand Honda in Elmhurst. Asked to speak to a sales manager. Got a guy that was hard to understand. Said he had manuals on the lot. Autos would need to be ordered. Drove by on a Sunday and they had one White used manual fit on the lot. I've seen it there for a few weeks. Their ads in the paper say all Fit trims available. I assume that means for order.

I have a Red Sport Auto on order from Matt @ Muller Honda in Highland Park. I went through the Costco's Auto Buying Program. He had a Blue Sport Auto coming at the end of Oct. I decided to get the Red which is coming in a month later. They get about 5 a month and they are all pre-sold. He said he had a Blue one on the lot last week that someone backed out of their order. 3 people were trying to buy it that day.

Motor Works

I picked my 08 Millano Red from Barrington MotorWorks. I ordered it in august, it was shipped october 12. Couple months wait time but well worth it, picked it up with 3mi. There was no B.S. about packages or anything, I just brought cash as a down payment, they ordered the car, end of story. Biggest price bumb was the Cook county taxes. I dealt with Arron, straight guy.
