hot dogs and burgers are always good on the grill. if we don't need heated leather seats and climate control, we don't need anything too extravagent.

joe d and i will definitely bring a pasta salad. we wanted to get a new weber charcoal grill, and if we do by next weekend, which would be a great excuse, (joe, let's get a new grill, do you really want our old nasty rusty grill in the fit?) we can do up some barbeque chicken, a couple of steaks, or maybe a few pork ribs if you're lucky...

i love to cook, so if you have any more ideas, let me know. joe's italian, and makes a great calamari salad, if you would all eat that sort of thing. i volunteer him to make it for you if you're all not afraid of a little squid. i'll check my pm's.

 

Lets bring CORN! IT's an easy grill and everyone needs some veggies!

 

so are we going to shop first, or go there to shop together then share the bill??

Ross Dock directions

The Ross Dock picnic area is on the Hudson river riverfront immediately north of the George Washington Bridge in Fort Lee, New Jersey.

From Routes 4, 46, I-80, I-95: Take the exit for Fort Lee / Palisades Interstate Parkway. Continue straight on Bridge Plaza South past several traffic lights. At the last light ("T" intersection), turn right onto Bigler St. At the stop sign, turn left (east) onto Main St., then keep in the right lane to bear right (south) at River Road. The southern park entrance will be on the left. Follow Henry Hudson Drive about one mile to the Ross Dock circle and follow signs.

From the Palisades Interstate Parkway (southbound): Take the last exit before the George Washington Bridge (Hudson Terrace). Turn left onto Hudson Terrace. Go south and at the second traffic light keep in the left lane to bear right onto Bigler St. At the stop sign, turn left (east) on Main St., then keep in the right lane to bear right (south) at River Road. The southern park entrance (Henry Hudson Drive) will be on the left. Follow Henry Hudson Drive about one mile to the Ross Dock circle and follow signs.

From U.S. Route 9W: At Main St., Fort Lee, turn east (right if headed north, left if headed south). Proceed downhill and bear right (south) at River Rd. The southern park entrance (Henry Hudson Drive) will be on the left. Follow Henry Hudson Drive about one mile to the Ross Dock circle and follow signs.

From Edgewater & South: Take River Rd. north. Near the top of the hill, at the Fort Lee border, is the southern park entrance (Henry Hudson Drive) on the right. Follow Henry Hudson Drive about one mile to the Ross Dock circle and follow signs.

From New York City: Take the upper level of the George Washington Bridge to the first Fort Lee exit. Bear right and proceed down the ramp to the traffic light. Proceed south (right turn) to the second traffic light, then keep in the left lane to bear right onto Bigler St. At the stop sign, turn left (east) on Main St., then keep in the right lane to bear right (south) at River Road. The southern park entrance (Henry Hudson Drive) will be on the left. Follow Henry Hudson Drive about one mile to the Ross Dock circle and follow signs.

Alternative Access (cars only, no trailers): Follow directions to the Englewood Picnic Area. The Ross Dock circle is one mile south of the Englewood Area on Henry Hudson Drive.

 

P.S. Parking is $5 per car.

 

So what are we doing for food?

Last BBQ we had allot of leftovers. Not sure what the best way to handle it is. Spoon Fit suggested we bring our own food to grill which sound like a good idea to me.

Of course people can also bring stuff for everyone too. I myself will be bringing a grill and charcoal plus some food(not sure what yet). It would be nice to have more than one grill there so if anyone else has one please bring it. I will probably bring some chips or pretzels for everyone too.

i think they have grills there too but depending on what time we get there they might be taken.

Any suggestions?

Anyway, We never talk about the time!!! I said 11:00 for NYC FitFreak, then NJ guys be there 12:00 - 12:30 is good??? but think better earlier to get the spot for all people..............sorry Mike would you mind do us a favor to get there earlier???

June 2nd is less than 2 weeks away!!! Where is Wave??

 

Wsup folks,

Got to stop at Ross Dock this morning and i didn't want to leave. It is beautiful! Nice pick Mike!

Anywayz...here's the skinny:

As i couldn't find an exact address for my GPS so i followed the directions i posted earlier. Here's a link to the website: Driving Directions* (Palisades Interstate Park - NJ Section)

Depending on which way you are coming, you will wind up on Main St. and it will curve around to the right. That is River Rd. As soon as you come around the bend start slowing down. The entrance is on your left less than 100 yards. Look for a blue sign that says "Welcome to Edgewater"
and pull in to the left there. The entrance sign to the park is partially covered by brush but follow that narrow road down to the dock.

The views are spectacular! Plenty of space. I counted at least 8 grills in different locations. I am going to bring mine just in case. Several trails were spotted for hiking and paved trails too. Going to bring my rollerblades!
