East Coast Dragstrip Meet??
East Coast Dragstrip Meet??
I'm not saying everyone has to do a time trial on the FIT, but it's not competition, just for FUN!
Lets see the response and we can make plans!
I think it will be fun!

Who = Anyone who is interested in mashing down on the gas for 1/4 of a mile!
What = Dragstrip "time trials" not for competition, just to get a time slip
Where = Island Dragway (great meadows, N.J.)
When = when there is enough people interested we can set a date!
Why = Because some FitFreak's like to Race!
I hope that answers your questions! WAVE

One problem about limerock, and this takes $$ and commitment and i guess interest! We will need a SCCA license (sport compact car assoc.)
We will have to attend a three day racing school in connecticut on limerock.
WIth that completed we will recieve a 12month valid certificate of completion.
WIth that certificate we can apply for the SCCA license.
Cost = $3500 with the lodging included........
A TON of money.... but i'm thinking about it......

I'd recomend an auto-x as well. Yes the strip is fun but I mean an autox would be more interesting. Plus it would be funny to have a pack of fit's at an autox. There are huge packs of STI/EVO/WRX drivers that go together a pack of 110 hp fits would be great. On the note of drag racing has anyone taken the fit and gotten a time? I would lean towards a 16.5 or so just guessing having been driving it. Anyone have a good launch technique down for this car? I don't think I've really run it through the gears hard yet.
Just a thought for something instead of Lime Rock
I took my fit to the New Hampshire international Speedway, my buddies convinced me to go along with them although one of them had an M3 and the other an EVO8, anyway it was an all day event lots of fun and cost 235 to enter. check out this site for up coming events if any of you are interested www.scda1.com . They always have a photographer at the events so the are pictures of our track day which was may 30 2006 that you can find on www.tracktimephotos.com. Here is the link to the novice group i joined, my fit is somewhere in there,

and the website to check the schedule of upcoming events is www.scda1.com
The way I actually did it was through my one of buddies who gave me the number to call about one week before the event, i asked if there was still room in the novice group, told him what car i was bringing and i was all set. i payed by check and filled out the forms on the day of the event.
After the forms you get your number to stick on your car, and if you need a helmet you can borrow one there, then you drive into the race car paddock and your given the choice of covered garrage which fits two cars and one fit or outdoor. The guys that didnt rent the covered garages had trailers so if you dont have one (a trailer) i would rent a garage which will fit 3 fits niceley for a reasonable price.
There is a schedule to follow throught the course of the day you pay for 4 runs with unlimitted laps around the track and briefings or short classes in between each run. Theres a dinner which closes at 2 i think so right about after you r second run you might wanna grab a bite ot eat. =)
Check Out the site, you should be able to find everything you need to know or you can just call.
I just Checked and the next event at New Hampshire Speedway is August 28 which is a monday.
I took my car and i had 15x7 FN01 rc's on toyo t1r tires, but they will allow you to run any tires. Other than the rims and tires my car was completely stock. The car'shandling was very impressive according to the instructors. I cant wait to try it again when I have coilovers and struts and a full exhaust!
Another thing i almost forgot to mention, the instructors run thier cars as well in the higher experienced groups and you can ask to ride with them!!
