Hahaha no thanks. I sat inside near my door. took about 200 shots to get 4 small lightning.... screw that lol.

hahaha yea I know what you mean.....

taking photos of lighting is hard....if I remember once you hear the thunder open the shutter when the lighting hit close the shutter...... setting should usually f/8 and the shutter set to bulb and wireless remote come in handy too it long exposure shot.....

Well I would do slow aperature with long shutter, oh duh! my iso was too high. I just remembered. well I have a remote. I was using it with manual focus so it doesnt keep focusing every time.

you mean big aperture....... with long shutter.....but give Bulb a try..... ISO 100 it probably ISO 50 and lock the focus on the lens and it usually infin.....

nevermind, i didnt have my glasses on and thought there was a line where the horizon is. its just the mountains meeting the sky

didn't Nikon have a 50mm f/1.4 for like $150? I can't seem to find anything like that anymore...

this shot looks scary yet nicee at the same time. scary cuz its half dark, but nicee cuz the veiw from up there is spectacular.

No chance, the 50mm f/1.4 is like 600 dollars :P
The 50mm f/1.8 however, is another story:
Nikon Nikkor Lens - 50 mm - F/1.8 - Nikon F

But keep in mind it won't autofocus with the D40/60

yeah, only the afs ones will.

I want to get a lens for shooting indoors, like at concerts/shows and stuff. I feel like 50mm would be better cause that's like 75mm equiv for DX, right?

but the autofocus on the 35mm would be nice, and the lens would be more useful in other situations.
