taking photos of lighting is hard....if I remember once you hear the thunder open the shutter when the lighting hit close the shutter...... setting should usually f/8 and the shutter set to bulb and wireless remote come in handy too it long exposure shot.....

you mean big aperture....... with long shutter.....but give Bulb a try..... ISO 100 it probably ISO 50 and lock the focus on the lens and it usually infin.....
this shot looks scary yet nicee at the same time. scary cuz its half dark, but nicee cuz the veiw from up there is spectacular.
this shot is really cool cuz you get the water, mountains, sky, and road all in one.

The 50mm f/1.8 however, is another story:
Nikon Nikkor Lens - 50 mm - F/1.8 - Nikon F
$130
yeah, only the afs ones will.
I want to get a lens for shooting indoors, like at concerts/shows and stuff. I feel like 50mm would be better cause that's like 75mm equiv for DX, right?
but the autofocus on the 35mm would be nice, and the lens would be more useful in other situations.
