Stricter emissions in all states

Mr President just told the EPA to mandate Cali style emissions testing/standards in all 50 states.

Should be fun.

You are wrong. Our president is poised to allow your state to impose stricter limits if your state chooses. He hasn't mandated any stricter federal standards. yep. he's undoing what Bush did and letting states set their own emission standards.

Not if you're in Cali. You can get a ticket even if you still have the cat

truth. any tampering with the emissions system (i.e. air filter to muffler) needs a carb sticker or it is illegal in cali

are you sure? i was pretty sure anything aftermarket from the cat-back is ok in california. such as a midpipe, or muffler, or both. for emissions, not including sound level.

well, in all truth, a cop in california can write you up for anything aftermarket on your car. ive known people getting written up for stock wings on evos and wrx's. i also know alot of people who have gotten "modified exhaust" tickets when their car was super quiet. you can fight it in court if your car doesnt exceed the maximum decible level but in most cases, its easier just to change your muffler and have it written off by another cop. then change it back.

They are starting to not give you a fix it ticket in my area anymore. Now they just give you a ticket and you have to pay a fine. I think the fine doubles everytime you get a ticket until you take it off

good thing I'm moving to Cali next year lol it'll be required there either way. At least you don't live in NJ. That state is strict as shit on emissions and inspections. They failed me once for a worn wiper blade. wtf.

well, these stricter smog laws for everywhere else will be good for cali. now companies are forced to make c.a.r.b. legal parts instead of overlooking the exemption.
