I wouldn't mind having that Kimber.... .22s are my first choice for relaxed enjoyment but if it is a matter of up close and personal interaction with someone that needs killing .45ACP will always be my first choice, unless I have access to a 12 gauge pump action shotgun loaded with 0000 buckshot.

Never been a fan of the .45 just not enough velocity for me. My personal fav for self defense is either 9mm 124grn jhp +p+ or for the real guns .38 Spcl 158 swchp, .357 125 hp ~ 1250 fps

I have handguns in all of those calibers and I still like .45ACP.... I know it is slow but it is also big and heavy.... When I was in a classroom familiarization course for the 1911A1, the instructor said that shooting someone in the thumb would spin the person around and put them on the deck... That statement was probably B.S. but I have noticed that the Marine Corps. is phasing out the Beretta 9MM and going with the Kimber .45... As I stated I prefer the .45ACP up close but at extended distance any of the calipers you mentioned would have an advantage provided the barrel length of the pistol was of equal or longer than the .45.

A pistol will never be a distance weapon, ESP for ccw. The reason I prefer the higher velocities is bc of heavy clothing, car doors or any other type of cover an attacker may use. Under my own ballistics testing, 10% gel I a have seen the .45 stopped surprisingly short. But that's just my opinion. The .45 has been around for 100 years, so makers must be doing right by it.

The Corps seems to be involved in all kinds of weapon development in recent years including shotguns with Mossberg, their own in house developed sniper rifles and precision loaded ammunition and the implementation of Kimber .45 pistols that are being used for close quarter engagements when busting down doors... Things have changed since the days of M-16s without cleaning rods firing Ohlin ball powder filled cartridges instead of the Western stick powder specified by Eugene Stoner and were very prone to jamming up firing the second round fired from a magazine loaded with only 17 rounds . I really don't keep up on the latest things going on in military firearm development like I once did and so I have no links to refer you to... I usually come across these things when I can't sleep and I'm online late at night or early morning hours.... I am sure that Recon has the Kimbers like they had Swedish Ks and urban cammies in 1968.

When I went to look at the Fit, after an at distance love affair since they came out, I showed up at the dealership with an empty rifle case in the back.

When the salesman came out to try to sell me, I told him I loved the car and would buy it today if, and only if, a rifle case fit in the back easily. He laughed and told me to have at it.

After showing him the case was empty, I sat in the car, adjusted the drivers seat for my 6' body, dropped the left rear seat, opened the trunk and watched as the rifle case disappeared into the car.

I told him I'd take it.

Kind of an old thread but I thought I'd chime in.

I CCW a Glock 26 with Winchester PDX1 9mm +P 124g JHPs. The wife CCW's a Smith & Wesson Bodyguard .380 (sweet little number has a built in Insight laser) and for fun I have a Ruger 6" target .22 pistol

Here is a picture of my EDC (the light is a Surefire LX2, knife is a Benchmade 710 M2-HS)

I"m a big fan of Benchmade tactical folders.. My wife has a S&W model 38 with airweight frame and shrouded hammer with exposed tip.. For the last 17 years I have owned a series 80 Colt .380 Government model with numerous enhancements. The Taurus Judge .45-410 revolver is looking very nice to me as a means of adding a little more weight to the right side of the car

RevToTheRedline, You have the Glock that I want! :P I have an m4, .300 win mag, Mossberg 12 gauge, Taurus 9mm, Ruger 10/22, Walther p22, an old single shot 12 gauge that was my grandfathers, and a KAR 98.

Holy hell I have a lot of weapons.. Not to mention I'm a huge fan of knives. Usually have one on me at all times, and then I have three stashed throughout my car.

In all honestly with all due respect to the amazingly reliable Glock design, this is the only Glock I'd have. Personally I wouldn't carry anything other than the simple Glock that I can trust but on the other hand I really don't care for all the bigger ones, something about the proportions of the 26, 27, and other sub compact models just looks way cooler than the big chunky full size offerings. With that being said, my wife doesn't carry one cause while being sub compact is still a fairly large pistol for a lady.

I'd also like to note that myself as well as anyone else should hope to never have to use a CCW, but obviously we carry them for the piece of mind.

The only thing I've done to the G26 is I added a Pearce magazine extension to one of the magazines, depending on the type of carry method I have the comfort ability of a larger grip or smaller aspects of the original design.

Yeah I don't like the way the bigger models look. I like the 29 personally for the 10mm option.
