Nissan Truck that has NEVER had its oil changed

This is one of the reasons why I have a hard time buying used, unless the vehicle has low mileage (and by low, I mean less than 15k). Even though it looks pretty damn good for never being changed, I can't believe it hasn't cause a failure somewhere. Makes you wonder what other maintenance the guy has skipped! Doesn't seem like a good idea for what is likely your second largest purchase ever (besides a house)!

 

it is almost always safer to buy used from an individual-- that way you can ask for maintenance records. I have had good luck with the 2 used cars I bought from dealers, though.

 

Working parts for a dealership for the last seventeen years (most of those on the service counter), you would be amazed at what people will put their vehicles through.

Had a gentleman come through last year complaining that his fusion was making noise. It certainly was, that noise was a rod bearing. His car had nearly 33,000 miles and when they put it up on the lift it still had the factory oil filter. He claimed that his salesman had told him that it had 100,000 mile service intervals (the salesman told him that the plugs were good for 100,000 miles) and that he was going to contact his lawyer and sue Ford, amazing.
