Finally Bought an S2000!

Well, at long last, I have finally acquired my dream-spec S2000, a MY04-05 finished in Sebring Silver Metallic. She needs some TLC, but engine/transmission are in good shape and all 10 VINs match.

Sweet!!!! Congratulations!!!!

That car will never go out of style. One of the best cars ever made, IMO.

Any plans for it?

How many cars did they sell? These have potential as collector cars but only somewhat.

Congrats on the car! Ever since our first conversation regarding S2000s, I have been prowling for one. Perhaps 2020 will bring a 2000 in my garage!

65k between 1999 and 2009.

Cars are not investments, they should be driven and enjoyed.

(Though I stand by my belief that commuting is dumb and the worst reason to drive)

They can also be investments. But they have to be interesting and rare. I’m always surprised that cars like the bmw m235 go up while all other 2-series depreciate .. its an odd thing to invest in for sure. I’ve never been smart enough to buy a rare car, I buy what I want and it’s often what other people want. Well I guess the del sol is rare but not interesting enough for it to become collectible :)

I partially disagree with that since it genuinely depends on the car.

I'm still kicking myself in the arse for not buying a new Civic Type R without markup and not flipping it for a profit. -.- Similar goes with the M235s as well as the actual M2 when they were just starting to hit the streets, both could easily be sold for a profit due to demand. Even 2015MY Hellcat Chargers and Challengers while we're briefly dabbling with investment cars, were in high demand... Was a 1 HC per 3 buyers so acquiring one at 70k and selling for 100k was a normal thing late 2014 to mid 2015..

The S2k was a late bloomer in that case but the CR models have always fetched a premium value wise.

With that said and the intention is to keep the car long tern then for damn sure drive the hell out of the car, no questions asked.

That’s funny. The CR is the one I would NOT want to buy. See, told you I am not very smart ...

Thank you! As of now, I'm just doing a bunch of maintenance. Just today, I swapped the amber side markers for clear side markers. Besides that, I replaced the cabin air filter, PCV tube, upper/lower VTEC solenoid gaskets, windshield washer reservoir cap, serpentine belt, shift knob lever nut, windshield cowl molding, and I also swapped the battery for an OEM Honda unit.

I think mike410b answered your question a few posts down, but the number is irrelevant to me. I don't look at this as a collector's car. I plan on driving the crap out of it as Uehara-san intended for owners to do.

Thanks, Herb!

I have! I've been lurking for a while, but I "officially" joined up a few months ago. Some of my favorite builds belong to feezy and andrewhake. I'm very excited to see what Andrew does with his Imola examples.

Thank you for the suggestion! :)

Thank you, thank you. I'm digging the refinished T7s btw. :)

Hey, it's actually the cabin air filter that I replaced; that might explain your confusion. Below is a photo of the engine air filter element/intake setup for clarification.

Had the opportunity to have my S2000 photographed by my friend, Ryan, aka @hyprpwr, this past week. Here are some of the photos he took.
