2020 Accord Sport
Hi Fit Freakers!
Well, the wife's 2017 Golf Wolfsburg 1.8t was nearing 85k miles so we decided to shop around a bit. The Golf was phenomenal and we would have replaced it with the same thing again. Trouble is that VW has dumbed down the Golf and it's now a 1.4t with no available high trim level packages. That had us shopping high trim level GTI's. Trouble there is they don't currently offer a single cool color and the wife just wasn't digging the cost vs. content.
We stopped by our local Honda dealer and she pretty much fell in love at first sight. Test drive proved it was adequate and the numbers fit our budget. So, here's her new ride...

It's a 2020 Accord Sport 2.0t with the 10 speed auto. I'm not sure why (although I'm glad they did) but, Honda throws a whole bunch more equipment at the 2.0 Sport vs the 1.5 Sport. Thank goodness because most of the added stuff for the 2.0 were checklist items that we weren't going to go without. Not that the CVT in the 1.5t was an option anyway.
Regardless, I could write a book about the things I don't like, but instead I'll focus on what I really do like. 1. the 2.0t motor 2. the looks 3. the spacious interior 4. the new infotainment system is lightyears better than what is in my Dad's CR-V 5. did I mention the motor and looks? Don't get me wrong. We have 4 vehicles here and the only one it's beating in a drag race is our Fit, but I like the 2.0t for what it is and I know it will get more interesting with some mods.

Will update as more is accomplished. First priorities are window tint, wrapping the chrome window trim, and some interior accessory upgrades. Hondata or Ktuner will be the first performance mod. Maybe by months end?
The tunes available for Honda's are only so-so compared to others though. VW's gain 80+ hp with just a tune. The tune in my current truck is a +110 hp tune which really, really wakes it up. Haven't gotten it to the track yet, but others report high 12's and I believe it based on the butt dyno. Still nothing compared to diesel stuff. I ran a "conservative" +150 hp tune in my Superduty. Got the 7,300 lb 4x4 into the 13's at the dragstrip. Was fun for a big truck.
What I'm not sure of is how much the 10 speed auto in the Accord can handle? Knowing Honda, it's probably the weak link. I hope it holds up since other automakers are able to build stout enough auto's these days. I had a 2013 Lincoln MKS that made 403whp and ran a 12.86 at the dragstrip and that transaxle held up so it's possible to build a strong one. VW does it with their DSG's, but that's a bit of a different animal. Fingers crossed I don't break this 10 speed! I've heard you can easily reach the mechanical limits of the CVT in the 1.5 with nothing other than a tune. :(
Here's what we are working on now.
I am blown away by the coating quality on the wheels. The inner barrels of these wheels is better than the paint on the hood of our VW.

Note that the de-chroming has been taken off. I have some better film on order to do a better job. The eBay china junk film didn't go on well, so we will be doing it again with better stuff.
