Fit vs. Suzuki?

This guy claims Suzuki is preferable to the Fit because of handling in snow and AWD, plus a lower price. Yet he admits it doesn't tote much stuff without folding down the seats. I live where there is no snow, so I'd like to hear from those of you who have negotiated nasty northern weather in your Fit. I certainly wouldn't give up the nimble handling of my Fit plus its astounding cargo room for AWD. And did anyone buy the Suzuki SX4?

AWD is always better in the snow, hands down. The Fit can take the snow on stock tires with no problem, so long as you know how to drive in the white stuff. It's much easier to drive in my parents G35x in the snow, but I still get around in the Fit, just takes a little bit longer.

The SX4 is a nice car, too bad they didn't decide to bring the new Swift from overseas here...if they did, I would have a hard time deciding between that and the Fit :p

the sx4 would be sweet if you could turn it into to this:

and drop the 2.3L engine in it

I have a set of Winters w/ steelies on my Fit. They are ever so slightly bigger than OE. ( 5.6% to be exact) so I get the extra clearance and the gearing is brought down a bit to. The speedo is only out 6km/h @ 100 ( aprox 4 mph @ 60 ). The car handles great in the snow. I won't take the car off roading of course, but really do you want a sub compact for off roading?

Also consider that the suzuzuki gets an EPA 24mpg to the Fit's 35mpg....Hmmm that was a big factor to me.

Also, HUGE cargo space in fit....

Just Test drive it to see if seating position and interior build bother you at all.

The Fit is THE top subcompact right now - no competition (unless you count looks, which I think goes to the Mini). UNLESS you need AWD - then the same honor goes to the SX4.

But if the Swift Sport was here, it might just be the ONE.

I test drove both cars many times and decided on the Fit (one Suzuki dealer gave me a car for a full day). I don't think the SX4 would be a bad choice, but if I wanted AWD I'd still have a Subaru. The SX4 had trouble starting on me one night. It didn't turn over after trying a few times. I wasn't too happy about that. It finally did start though on the 4th or 5th try.

The Fit can "fit" more inside...it seemed much more spacious. The interior in the Fit is of much higher quality IMO. Gas mileage on the Fit is much better as well.

AWD = more maintenance. The Suzuki dealer wouldn't tell me exactly what the maintenance schedule was and that was another reason why I decided against it.

i saw an sx4 in person today and id def rock it if i crashed/totaled my aveo....i looks so sweet stock and could only get better with lowering springs and some 16's....and considering right now with my aveo im getting 24 mpg (broken o2 sensor, clogged filter, lead foot are all factors) i wouldnt mind having the 23/28 mpg...since i can afford that kind of gas mileage now

I was considering the SX4 but the mileage killed the deal. I love the way they incorporated volume, track/ station buttons and a mute button for the radio into the steering wheel.

I wish Honda put volume and track controls on the wheel. Probably most favorite part of my late MINI Cooper. :)

hmm considering it they made a WRC car out of the SX4, well I could've gave it a test drive, but as for daily driving with no snow, I still have to go with the fit.
