Diesel Honda

I read a post where someone was asking about a diesel Honda. Well, the US may get a diesel Honda in 2009 or 2010. I read an article in today's edition of The Arizona Republic, "Your next car may be a diesel", and it mentioned that BMW, Chrysler and Honda were bringing diesels to market in 2009-2010. The article mentioned that 1/2 of European cars were diesels, mainly cuz that fuel is cheaper than gasoline. In the US, it's the opposite. The article states that technology has greatly improved re: getting the diesels to meet emmissions standards. Plus, the new diesel fuel is much cleaner (15 ppm Vs 500 ppm), so that works in it's favor. The new diesel engines also can run on bio-diesel. If anyone knows a lot about diesels and would be willing to share with the Forum, it would be appreciated.:) Maybe a diesel Fit in the future?

Down here, Diesel is cheaper than than Gasoline (2.1 vs. 2.54 USD per gallon)
The problem is that Diesel cars pay more sales taxes than gasoline ones.
Near the 30% of cars are Diesel powered.

From what we've heard, Honda will be bringing out a diesel in the '08 Accord re-design. No final word on this yet. Probably won't see a diesel in the Fit, but more likely a hybrid car on the same chassis. Wouldn't be suprised to see a diesel in the CR-V either.

Not in my area.
Lowest diesel is
$3.39 to 3.44 per gallon
vs costco unleaded for $2.61 per gallon 87 octane and $2.74 for premium.
