If you date sort messages, his original and this one are all
together...at least that is the case in my reader.

Some news providers (such as mine) have a very short retention time. In
order to reconstruct this thread, I need to go through Google Groups,
because all the old messages are gone from my server.

This is one reason it's considered good Netiquette to quote the relevant
portion of your previous message.
