The Instrument Panel is Too Bright at Night!

Hi all,

I recently purchased a new 2005 Civic EX and I've dimmed the
instrumental panel with the headlights on as far as possible.

Yet I still see glare on the driver side window. Does anyone else have
this issue or is it just me?

Please help!

Thanks!

Re: The Instrument Panel is Too Bright at Night!

I have a 03 civic sport with the white lit instrument panel and silver trim
around the Spedo and Tac meter. I have the insturment panel light set so
its NOT at its brightest setting (same as when the DRL are working and the
light switch on the indicator arm is off) and its NOT at the lowest setting
either. I sometimes get the glare too but in time you dont notice it
anymore. On the same note, I sometimes find the Instrument Panel too
bright in the day! any other thoughts/points on this topic?

Actually, the 05 Civic has a dimmer setting for the instrument panel
when the headlights are turned off that is separate from when the
headlights are turned on.

Does the '03 model have that as well?

The problem is not headlights verses no headlights, it is outside ambient
light.

If I turn on my lights during the day, maybe because it's overcast, maybe
because I am in a "headlights on for next twelve miles" dangerous stretch
of road, I can't see my instrument panel unless I adjust the brightness up.

Then I turn the lights off. At night, I start up the car, turn on the
lights... the instrument panel is too bright. Still putting out the same
lumens as last time I checked, but now I don't want that many lumens.

Back to the OP... I sometimes catch the glow of my radio in the drivers
side window. It's all about seat position and angles. If it's bright
enough to see, it's bright enough to reflect visibly in the side window
when it's dark outside. I think the only solutions are to drive in well
lighted areas, or make sure the windows are dirty.
