Fit vs Subaru WRX

don't take the "versus" too seriously as not too many fits will ever be able to keep up with most WRX's as far as raw power and speed go, but I've had so much fun driving and finding parts for my Fit the last couple of days, that I've almost forgotten about my modded out 04 WRX!!! and that's saying alot because I love my Subie, there's just nothing like raping Muscle cars and Srt-4's. anyone else feel this way about either subject??

Automobile August issue has a little write up on the 2008 Subaru Impreza
WRX ST 293 hp, 2.5 litter Turbo four cylinder. On sale starting in January
no twin clutch gearbox being offered though like the Evolution! Looks crazy fast!

I've never driven a WRX - but I would love to have one... Not to replace my Fit, but as an addition to the family... maybe someday.

I can see myself powersliding through mountainous turns in the WRX, the all wheel drive burnouts, and the flashing blue lights of the law. :)

I'm going to have to agree on that one i don't know about any AWD burnouts, except maybe on gravel haha, but how awesome would it be it the fit were AWD or someone did a conversion, it would probably do really well on the WRC, oh and AWD is a ridiculously awesome thing to have, subaru's are awesome cars as well.

I trade my wrx wagon for the fit. don't miss the wagon much.... the fit is smaller on the outside, but inside it's much larger, drives lot nicer.. I never noticed how rough subaru's are until I recently drove my friends wrx after putting in springs for him.. but after driving the past 3 months fit.. the wrx was like a driving a tractor in terms of noise and vibrations and feel.. fit is silky smooth.. subaru's got the boxer shake and rumble.. notchy gearbox and heavy steering/clutch... but it's not a fair comparision.. wrx is geared towards performance not so much comfort..

but I had so much fun modding the wrx since there were so many options available.. the fit is very limited in this aspect...

The only thing I miss in the wrx was the AWD.. during canadian winters and wet roads.. it really shines... not to mention power slides.. I don't miss the mileage at all.. I was getting 12L/100km with premium gas.. I'm literall saving half my gas money with 7L/100km using regular in the fit..

i went from fit to a 99 subaru impreza outback sport wagon lol, lovin the space... when i got it in for the first time and put the seat all the way back i went wow... i was able to stretch out all the way without reclining the seat  and it was really quiet... until i put a new exhaust on  as for the ride, it was really smooth, but to my surprise both the front shocks were completely blown, i switched over to 8 way adjustable shocks- kyb agx's.

had to switch over in the end actually, if i had ended up driving my fit, i would have been paying 400+ a month for insurance

true very true i agree wholeheartedly, I have 3" turbo back on mine Helix downpipe and HKS HIpower catback, as well as lots of other stuff, I love the boxer rumble though, wish the Fit sounded like that haha.

I own the '04 WRX and just bought the wife the Fit. I love the Fit but really miss the get up and go on my Subie when I am driving her car. I dont miss the 20mpg I get on average commuting to/fro mwork in it (I have a heavy right foot!)

Unfortunately for scooby, he sits parked for most of the year (I put ~500 miles on it LY) becuse I commute to work on motorcycles....now that will make you forget all about the turbo in a heartbeat. Perhaps, once the warranty expires here next year, I will start modding the scooby.

i had a wrx too, modded it like crazy. i have to agree about the suspension, i put tein coilovers, hotchkis sways, endlinks, and 18's on it. i had both for about a week and it was crazy the difference between the two. i do miss the power, but i probably would have crashed again if i didn't change cars. and the fit is way less in insurance.

i miss the sound too. the turbo-back made it sound so sweet.

i won't be able to rally-x any more.

I have a 07 Legacy non turbo and my fiance just got a 07 fit. I love driving that thing. It's like driving a go cart with lots of room inside. It has a hell of a lot more room than my legacy. I want one of my own but I will have to wait a couple of more years before I can trade out of it.

I traded my 06 WRX for the Fit for gas/commuting expense reasons. I really thought I was going to miss the power of the WRX but the Fit is so brilliant in the handling department (especially with the Tanabe GF210 springs) I really don't miss the "oh my God" acceleration of the WRX. In fact, the Fit has made me a better driver. Once you learn how to work the powerban you can keep some good momentem. It is a hand down better handling machine than my stock suspended WRX.......I keep reminding myself horsepower is not everything and think back to driving my Porsche 356 with 90hp and my 85 Honda CRX which made around 75hp.....I know I will miss the all-wheel drive in the winter but I made due with my S2000 in the snow and lived to tell about it.

i honestly have never driven a wrx, but i really want to. Went to the dealership a couple months ago and they said they wont get any suby's wrx's til at least mid september which is a bummer since i was actualy contemplating on getttig a wrx over my fit. Glad i made the decision to get the fit though even though i wish i had boughten a manual fit over this automatic one.

I just traded my 02 wagon for my 07 fit. I got to say i do miss the heck out of the turbo, but as far as handling goes i like my fit a touch more:D Of course i can't take those semi circle off ramps at 60mph anymore, but i am still happy none the less. It was just in time to my subie's transmission was heading to the junkyard, and after already replacing the clutch i was happy to get rid of it. I will get another subie down the line though especially when the sti's get up in years and get a little cheeper. All i can say right now is i absolutely love my fit. Just got the windows tinted and i can't stop staring at it out the window hehe:p

I considered buying a WRX as a replacement for my Integra, but since performance was not an issue in my cars, my issue was mpg. I just needed something fun and economical to get me to and from work. Was an old promise I made to myself that since I got a couple gas sucking cars already in my garage (Montero & NSX), I wanted to get one that got me at least 30mpg. Hence I got my Fit and havent looked back. :D

I actually went from the Fit to the WRX. I still kinda miss the Fit...especially now that the car is undriveable at the moment.

I would take the 07 wrx sti over the fit in a heartbeat like anyone else...im kinda gettin tired of getting cut off all the time in LA, i dunno if its cuz im driving a fit, or that its just typical LA jerks, but i kinda wish i had some more power under the hood...altho at the same time im really grateful that i dont have to pay as much gas as everyone else
