If people are willing to pay for it, then those same people must think it has that value. No one--NO one--is forcing ANYONE to go there for a $54 oil change. If no one went, then they wouldn't have any business--and they'd lower their price until they found the level that generated the business they need. So no one is price gouging, because there are plenty of alternatives. They don't own the market. Anyone who goes there, does so of his own free will. He does so because he doesn't feel gouged. Paragon is charging the going rate for the people that walk in the door. If people stop walking in the door, they'll lower their rate. But until that happens, they'll keep the rate up and maximize their profits--as any business will do. |

When I has a fender-bender three years ago, the only aftermarket replacement part I allowed to be installed was the bumper rebar. I figured how could that hurt? It's hidden, right? WRONG! It was the wrong SHAPE, and it pulled the bumper skin forward and down in the middle, throwing everything else off! Replacement with an OEM bar ($400) fixed it. Insurance comapny agreed to pay for it too, but that took six months. Aftermarket has its place, especially if you know it's the same stuff sold by the dealer, but under a different name. My rad and windshield are aftermarket, for example. Such respected posters here as Mista Bone use aftermarket extensively, but they also know what they're looking at. Generally I don't trust aftermarket. -- TeGGeR® The Unofficial Honda/Acura FAQ www.tegger.com/hondafaq/ |
