Stock s2000 vs stock civic R (must see)

Video Battle: Honda Civic Type R vs. Honda S2000

This is amazing video. You'll be surprised who wins.

Hint: it's the one that you think will lose. Otherwise it wouldn't be "surpris"ing

i have a vague memory that i've seen this video posted on fitfreak.net a while back, and that i had noticed the same thing about the s2k. but sometimes i have trouble distinguishing my dreams from reality, so i'm not sure really. anyway, this was a fun video to watch.

he got the tail loose once through the whole thing, and that was after he got passed with no opportunity to take it back. he drove well enough throughout the race. he was exiting corners faster, and the civic was able to enter faster. thats typical ff v.s. fr. the civic was also able to maintain more speed in the corners and pull harder on the staright. they are both extremely talented drivers, and it came down to the cars.

EDIT::I just noticed the third video, and they are pretty much saying the same thing...

can't remember what it is in yen, but it would be the equivalent of 25k in U.S. dollars.

1.the mugen weighs more

2. the mugen has the same u.s. spec k20z3 si motor, whereas the type r is pumping out over 20hp and almost 20lbs of tq more.(and redlines higher)

3. mugen has si spec brakes, type r has brembos

4.type r suspension and exhaust is all unique and the interior is unique too. the mugen shares the u.s. si spec interior, has a body kit that at least features a functional spoiler, and it has slightly stiffer springs and shocks and has a mugen cat-back. (it could be an axle back, but i'm under the impression that its a cat. although honda did mention that the exhaust may only add 'a few hp' per edmunds.com, suggesting that maybe it is in fact just an axleback.)

5. the type r is not available here and the mugen will be susceptible to theivery.;)

the driving was less than excellent for the S2000. as much as i like to rag on fwd for sports cars, that vid does show something very important. enthusiast appeal has no simple definition. snap oversteering S2000 entices those in the mood to try to tame a challenging car. secure fwds like the CTR make you feel comfortable to push the car to your personal limits. which one is more fun? hard to say.

but i don't think you can say the ctr is definitively better considering the driving. if anything, they're comparable, which is outstanding for a fwd.

I don't think so. The driver was a professional, whereas the civic driver was some 'kid'

If you see the s2000 driver drive the civic, u can see him push that thing hard better than the kid did.

Yeah, S2000 driver is Daisuke Ito, 2007 SuperGT GT500 champion along with Ralph Firman driving the ARTA NSX. He does not suck.

The CTR driver was no kid though, it's Keichi Tsuchiya, who should need no introduction.

hahahhaa, god just the mental image of the mugen on blocks makes me crack up on how stupid that dealership was

my friend's cousin who owns a jdm importing company in arcadia, CA imported a CTR and has CTR front and rear bumper conversions

we would need beefier front suspension, engine mounts and etc but no doubt it would be intense

well, actually aj-racing's turbo'ed fit beat out k20 w/ ITB's, and k20 supercharged so it shows that the L15 can keep up with the big boys but then theres other factors like the skill level of the drivers too but still gives us Fit drivers a light at the end of the tunnel
