2005 Accord EX - nose mask
Just wonder if anyone had any experience of installing the OEM nose mask for
the subject vehicle. If so, did you folks had any problems in that it would
scratch the paint? What is your preference, half or full nose mask? Your
input will be greatly appreciated.

Re: 2005 Accord EX - nose mask
I have a Honda full nose mask on my '05 EX. At first, I tried to buy the
mask at the dealership (Honda Cars of McKinney) where I purchased my Accord,
but they would not match the online Honda cost + labor amounts. After they
agreed to match the online price but not the online labor amount, the clerk
said that there was a bulletin from Honda indicating that nose masks were
not to be recommended to customers, either the full or half masks, if the
car had the fender flare guards installed. Of course, my dealer had
pre-prepped the car with these items before the car was even placed on the
lot, as part of their "dealer-prep" items. The reason behind the bulletin is
that the normal button clips that come with the mask have a hard time
matching up to/and replacing the ones that are already their from the fender
flare guards. The dealer would sell me either of the masks, but would not
install it.
So, I walked away bummed. I went back online and noticed that if I bought
the item there (which would have saved me $30 over buying it and having it
installed at my dealer), the installation would tale place a different
dealership (McDavid Honda of Frisco). I decided to buy it and have it
installed there and if they came back and said they couldn't, I'd just get
my money back.
Well, I bought the full mask and was called back a few days later from the
dealer in Frisco that the mask was in and when would I want it installed. I
had it installed that weekend. It looks great and it has saved my front end
from an assortment of dings. So far, it has kept up well in the Texas heat.
I had to take it back once to have one of the button clips repaired/replaced
as it had popper off from the passenger side wheel well. It was repaired by
the dealer without a problem. Because the dealer installed it, it is covered
under the 3/36 warranty period.

Re: 2005 Accord EX - nose mask
I had a mask..I left it on for a few months and immediately took it off
after I noticed it was scratching the paint. My paint is still scratched
after several years of not using the mask and buffing it out/waxing it. I
would not get the mask. Dirt will get under it and act like sandpaper. I
would get the clear 3M "mask" Basically it is clear vinyl precut for your
car and it goes on the leading edges of the fron of your car to include
fenders bumper hood etc. A little pricey but you can hardly tell it is
there and it does protect against rocks and stuff.

Hello Halo2 guy,
How would I get this 3M mask? Where would I find it on the Internet? Your
input has been valuable. I am now am believing its not a good idea to buy.
