Honda's amazing Automatic transmission

This is an interesting article all of you AT guys should read... it's how our transmissions are better than most of the others on the market. According to Honda, the technology is still alive today, granted it's updated, but it's still completely unconventional from regular autos. Please enjoy! :)

Yea Honda has a special AT. First it's always five gears. Not 4 like toyota (the american's are going for six speed). The new scion xB and xD have 4 speeds still! Second, all honda's AT have locking torque converters on all gears. Most automatics only lock on the tallest gear.

One time I had an oil change at pennzoil. I was bored and took a pamphlet from that reads something like:

When do you need to replace transmission fluid?
Answer: if you have a gearbox or a honda automatic

I'm sorry if this is not the exact question/answer. I'm not good with automatic technical stuff so I don't remember wel. I just remember the "honda automatic" statement that I knew it was not the same as any other automatic.

Actually, Honda just recently (as in early 2000s) switched to a 5 speed if I'm not mistaken, before they were all 4 speeds. I know for a fact that the Civics up until the current 8th generation were 4 speeds as well. That's really interesting about the fluid though... I'm a firm believer in only using Honda fluids, including oil, I wonder if they had the OEM stuff or if they used a Pennzoil branded fluid... hmmm

this is true, the prev gen civic had a 4 speed, i think the 03 accord was the first to introduce the five.

and now its the one left behind in a world of six speeds.
