1999 Accord LX V6 Automatic
At 125k miles the Automatic is failing with the tell tail random lurching. Honda demonstrated in later model this Automatic tranmission is junk and not near the normal Honda quality. Extended warrant's offered to many with 2000 and newer.
Knowing this, I complained to the Honda's main office and at the end of the day the best they would do for me was $1,600 to replace it with a R&R one. The labor is about 5 hrs. Seems like a lot of money considering the service had been preformed and this is a known Honda design issue. This is my 3rd Accord in over 20 years and I was not too happy with the fact they did not make a better offer. It's in the shop today geting the work done.
Any suggestions.
PS Based on this Honda treatment and money I have to deal with it, I will drive this Accord for 1 more year and sell in and but a Camry. According to consumer reports, Toyota has better quality and perhaps that is why the have done way better than Honda in NA.

You are lucky to have gotten to that milage. A lot of people tranny had to be replace within a few thousand miles.
Take what you can get and get rid of it asap.
Toyota quality isn't all that either now aday.
The current gen of Camry have their fare share of tranny issues.
Check out Toyotanation if you want to read more about it.

1999 Honda Accord LX ulev AT
We just sold our 1999 Honda Accord LX ulev. At 182,000 miles, the engine blocked had cracked. I was seeing oil in the coolant reservoir and radiator only. The oil was coming from the engine.
I did a compression test on all the cylinders and got consistent 150 psi accross all four at WOT. This ruled out a blown head gasket or a warped head. Furthermore, I wasn't seeing coolant in the engine oil, nor was I experiencing overheating.
Used F23A Engines are going for less than $500. Told my wife I'd replace the engine. She simply said NO. She wanted a new car.... So we bought the FIT...
I really liked the Accord. The car was extremely easy to work with. The engine bay was spacious. I thought I was going to do another Timing Belt maintenance on it...
The only problem it had was a VTEC solenoid replacement, which was easy enough to replace. The early production Accord (1998 to 1999) F23A engines had a casting problem. They were known to have cracked blocks. The later production Accords (2000 to 2002) had severe Automatic transmission problems due to certains gears (2nd) not getting enough lubrication.
