For a difference of about 600$....
Hey all,
Just looking for some opinions from you guys.
I was looking at the Fit to buy as my new car. But this morning, I stumbled across this: Full Size Picture which costs about 600$ more than the AT Sport.
Which do you think is the better buy? I understand they're 2 completely different cars....but I'm kinda torn now!!!!

Hard to say, depends on what you want. I personally hate the new Lancer...but that's just me...
A Fit Sport up here is ~$20k...you have no idea how badly we get reamed here...
Yep, Fit Sport in Canada with Auto has an MSRP of $20,880 before any kind of taxes/freight/etc.
So much for the value of our dollar....
Yeah stupid companies won't reduce their prices...kinda like book stores...stupid manufacturers removed the US price so stores didn't have to honour it...I think Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge are the only companies offering their vehicles at ~ the same price as their US counterparts...we did a comparison in the Calgary thread and higher end cars from Mercedes, BMW, and Infiniti can get anywhere from 20% to >50% difference between US and Canadian prices
Oh yeah! The Fit qualifies for $1000 eco Rebate! I don't think the Lancer does...
i dont think he will be any more irritated than he would be with the fit.
it looks like that lancer is the equivalent of the gts trim here in the states, which, at least until the ralliart comes stateside, is the highest level trim you can get on a lancer before going evo.
its a very nice car!
the whole fact that the fit is super expensive over there would have me second guessing my purchase...not because i don't like the fit, but it really just depends on what you want out of a car. the fit will be great for modding, and it handles great, and you'll be able to carry tons of stuff.
the lancer handles pretty slick too, is faster stock, and actually utilizes an n/a version of the new engine in the evo. but its really up to you man. technically, you would be getting more for your money with the lancer....but the fit has its strong points.

"The 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart is powered by a 2.0 liter (Dual Valve VVT) Turbo Engine that develops 240 PS. The 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart is also equipped with a 6-speed Twin Clutch - SST transmission, a full-time 4WD system with Active Yaw Control and Active Center Differential."
Get the RalliArt edition!!!

Dosn't the Lancer have something like 50% more power than the Fit? :)
For the GTS model:
"The new 2.0-liter inline-4 produces 152 horsepower, a lot of power from so little displacement. And thanks to Mitsubishi's variable valve timing for both the intake and exhaust cams, there's a broad torque curve that starts at about 2,000 rpm with 135 pound-feet and then plateaus a short time later with 146 lb-ft at 4,250 rpm."

It's not as good as you would think. Even with the extra HP, its seriously boring...even the old one had more spunk :( The Fit probably goes slower, but it feels a lot faster and is more fun to drive.
Add in the $180.00 Honda block heater installed.....guess you will take a miss on this "option" as well? I thought I misread the options list, block heater optional in Canada....a laugh. Oh and the $1,250 "transportation fee"....same fee if you are buying in Nova Scotia as in Vancouver, BC. The Canada bound Fit cars arrive from Japan in Vancouver, yet the fee is the same as a city 5,000km away. Add the GST of 7% plus the PST of 7% I paid last September and the tax rate is stupid in this country. Oh well, we love our car, would buy another....looking at the 2009 Civic Si with some interest as a second vehicle.

I havn't had a chance to test a new one out, the old ones seem a little on the underpowered side to me. lol, I ever bought one it would be an Evo :D
