HKS defeats Nissan GT-R limiter
For anyone that might be buying one of Nissan's new supercar, I just saw on Autoblog that HKS has a plug and play module that eliminates the top speed limiter without reflashing the computer.
Cost estimate is about $1200 U.S. And no, I'm not in the market.
That didn't take long. :D

i know huh..on my old car, i disabled the speed governor by cutting a wire and installing a switch in its place to enable and disable the speed limiter. it only cost like 5 bucks for the switch and took about 25 seconds to install. but the gtr is top-notch so maybe disabling its speed governor should cost way more haha.

JDM models are limited to 111mph (112 depending on who you talk to) when the GPS does not recognize the car on a Nissan-approved track. On Nissan approved tracks, the GPS disables the speed limiter. It also voids the warranty. If you're going to have a voided warranty, may as well have the speed limiter disabled all the time anyway.
Nissan has stated they're not implementing the speed limiter on US models anyway.
EDIT: On another note though, the May 2008 issue of Turbo magazine has an interview with Matchless Crowd Racing.

Sweet now they need to figure out how to make the car look better. :p :D JK JK Just think the car is awesome spec wise but still ugly. But its a matter of taste and mine doesn't apply to the rest of the world. :wavey:

That's what one of the magazines said, but I read in a q & a with Nissan somewhere that if you're required to take the car to the service center after you take it to the track. That servicing could cost up to $1000 and if you don't, the warranty is voided.
I think the latter is true, but I dunno about the $1000. Either way, we don't have to worry about most of that here since the USDM cars sound less intrusive and governed. But Nissan has JDM on lockdown :(
