Fit vs. HHR
Fit vs. HHR
Yeah Yeah, dont shoot me just yet for mentioning this. I know there are a lot of import tuner guys here. However im asking from the aspect of a daily driver. Before i purchased the fit i was considering the HHR due to the cargo space it has, the bigger engine and more power (with relatively good gas mileage) and the prices, rebates, and financing available. I went with the fit cause it was more fun to drive. I do wonder from time to time though if i would have gotten more car for the money (once again im not talking resale value but from a practicality standpoint). What other cars did you guys look at when consider the Fit.

Whether you like it or not all these little cars (honda, chevy, toyota, etc.) are econo boxes and the quality will not exactly be on par with Rolls Royce.

:rotfl:

I looked at a Ford Focus, Yaris, Colbolt.Civic SI, Scion D. Drove the Fit and I was pretty overall impressed with everything about the car. Waited
one month and decided the Fit was the only thing that would make me happy:hyper: I lerked on this forum about three months before I purchased so I would know what to expect.

as far as chevy goes, i have no problem with the monte carlo. my family has had 3, a '96, a '97, and an '07, and they've all been fantastic. and i have to say, the '07 is a gorgeous dark purple (kinda similar to a certain BBP....:))
anyways, i have sat in the back of an HHR and it totally sucked. a coworker had one, and when i asked him how he liked it, he said he absolutely hated it and made a horrible choice.
soooo.....fit ftw.

I was considering a yaris a civic a focus a xd an xb and a bunch of others....
But the only car I fit comfortably in was of course the fit. Plus it was within my price range had a good mpg rating and was nice to drive.
Very happy with my choice :)

An Ex GF had an HHR I drove it a couple times. It didn't feel any faster than the Fit in a straight line, and a lot soggier in the turns. I dislike the small windows on it making me feel like looking through a mail slot compared to the fit, and it doesn't get any better mileage than my old WRX wagon, which was way faster. It also has more than it's fair share of rattles. I was really not impressed. We took my Fit on most of the excursions we went on as a couple.

your question confuses me a bit.. ..
so dont say get the fit because of the potential and aftermarket support, and its a cliche thing to say as tuners or enthusiests...but more as a gain from the financial aspect, and what it has to offer mechanically, and comfort..
but you get the fit because its more fun to drive?
so if im not mistaking the HHR doesnt seem like it has more cargo space to offer from a fit.. yes a bigger motor with decent milage but a fit with better milage with a more reliable engine,The only reason u really concidered that chevy garbag`e was because the prices, rebates, and financing available.....
Now as a car to purchase before spending the amount on a fit..
i look at what others have to offer..
fit for 18k
well im looking for good gas milage
good looking, aftermarket support, potential,reliability/rep, all this is what makes it fun to me..
so the fit in civic gets shit gas milage.. in highway it gets nice milage.. concidering the mods.. that gas milage will fall streight down hill.. so for the gas milage a modified L15 has to offer for the hp..
id go with an 07/08 corolla xrs.. a nice 4 door sports sedan about the same space and gas milage with a verry high reving 2zzGe engine with Lift..

I considered it because I am a fan of thier products ( i should say the V8 products). I have owned numerous Chevy V8's from a 70 Chevelle to a 96 impala SS. And while the interior of the SS was not the best, it was by far the most comfortable with big leather seats and a back seat that would put sofas to shame. Gobs of torque, and gas mileage to boot for being a 4200lb car.
In any case, this is my first 4 cylinder. Your reliability comment is void to me becuase I believe with few exceptions any engine that is taken care will last just as long as a competitor when treated the same. My moms mid 90's toyota died at 160k miles all dealer maintained. She is very easy on the car. By this diagnosis, the all mighty toyota should have lasted forever correct?
All im saying is that it was a car I was considering due to price. Its a larger car for the money, with leather seats and a couple other small things the fit doesnt have. Cargo volume for the fit is 41 cu ft vs. the HHR at 63 cu. ft.
In the end im very happy with the fit. I was going for fuel mileage and i got it! :) I wasnt looking for power, i have my baby at home which will soon put down 400-500 HP at the wheels and give me 40 gallons per mile :D

i feel u on this one..
(im a rotary dude)
I am a valet so i have driven everything from a SMART car to a benz SLR. In my opinion my fit is better than a lot of cars that are 5-10k$ more and deffinantly better than a HHR,PTCRUISER,any scion,civic,aveo,matrix,yaris......the list goes on but u get the point. And i have driven all these cars multiple times. oh and never valet your car unless you have too.
