Moved to Fit comparison.

Thats price is very low!
15k for a S with AT..That means around 14k for a S with a MT...Dang!
And 29/35? Pretty darn good.

09 Fit will have some serious competion.

yeah, until you drive it.;) i like the attempt at magic seats too.

the prices are not that much cheaper...a manual fit sport puts you in the 15's. an auto makes you go 16. The new fit will be more expensive, but its got the leather wheel, paddle shifters, alloy wheels(toyo is notorious for not putting on wheels, even on the 's' models unless its an option), traction control and a nav system. i'd rather pay 18 k and get all that than save 50 bucks a month.

Please look at the photos above, it does have leather wrapped steering and alloy wheels. I won't have paddle shift but most of use will get manual anyway, it doesn't have traction control or nav.

sorry , i didn't notice that, but thanks for pointing it out.

this particular picture has alloys, but in the same way you can stroll unto the dealer and find ten yarii 's' sedans with hubcaps, i'm sure this will be the same, unless they are particularly gunning for the fit.

which in that case, they are still out of luck, cause even the base fit will have 15's.

i'm sure it will be a decent car, and reliable, but it just can't match up dynamically. and even though it does give better mileage than the CURRENT fit (we have yet to see new figures for the next gen), the difference is not so great that i would opt for it. nor would your car payment be that smaller.

I say I'll have to test drive both to make any judgment on the dynamics of the car. I don't like to knock on cars that I haven't even driven.

I bet it will be more expensive than the fit when adding the options to the Yaris that you get on the Fit standard.

I'm still not a fan of the central instruments... the dash seems so blank around it...

The outside isn't bad... a lot like a Fit. Maybe a little smaller, but still pretty similar.

The yaris 5 door is probably be the exact same thing except styled for older people... And like the matrix, will probably NOT come standard with power locks or power windows... Things that the FIT does have standard...

And in case anyone hasn't test driven the XD yet, it fails to match up to the fit in any way (IMO of course...) :p

if i'm not mistaken, there have been no suspension changes, therefore, we can easily assume it will drive a lot like the current yaris; a car that has its lunch eaten by the current gen fit with no problems.

and if the 09 is going to be even better, it does not bode well for the yaris.

but the folks who buy it care about very little as far as driving enjoyment. this can be said of all toyota drivers, unless they drive a celica gts, ae86, supra or is300.

you forgot about the alltrac/gt-four owners :D. few know about it, but the celica [seri-kah] gt-four was sold in north america as the alltrac turbo between 1988-1993 - st165 and st185 chassis. awd + turbo = Toyota's DSM combatant. i miss mine terribly :(

back on topic,
the yaris will have a few new colors including yellow... honda better give us a canary yellow Fit dammit

Wonder how they kept the nose of the car nice and small with US bumper specs. Wish the 09 Fit had done the same.

exterior design on the 5-door yaris > exterior design on 2009 fit
interior design on the 5-door yaris < interior design on 2009 fit
drive train on the 5-door yaris < drive train on 2009 fit
name yaris < name fit (but both are pretty crappy names for a car)

nah. no dice man. even if you don't really love the new fit's looks, it looks worlds more upscale.

Thought it didn't look all that bad from the back angle pictures and then saw the frontal shots and realized it still had the ugly-ass current Yaris hatchback look and I gagged. Jeez what an ugly look.

If your going on price get a kia rio. The yaris will never be a good car ever. There are plenty others out there that blow this car out of the water.

Its an overrated peugeot minus all the cool stuff from peugeot.
