My 04 Accord moans in reverse

2004 Accord EX 5M with 60,000 miles on it. I have never had my brakes
replaced nor have I had any brake-related work done on my car. My
brakes have lasted quite a while...

Anywho, just last week my car starts making this moaning/squealing
noise when I go in reverse. Nothing when driving forward, just
reverse. It sounds like a rubbing noise and I'm pretty sure it's
coming from the rear end of the car.

Anyone else experience this with their Honda? I have an appt. to take
it to the shop this Friday. Hopefully it's just new pads that I need.
Any ideas on what this might be?

All Honda automatics make noise in reverse (they sound like manual
trannies), but maybe you've just got a pebble jammed against your disk?
First time I went on a dirt road that happened with my Odyssey and it
was hard to get out. Sounded worse going forward.

If it were a pebble you'd think it would make the noise in both
directions, but it only does this in reverse, and it just started, so I
don't think it's a pebble. I am trying to limit my time going in
reverse so it own't make it worse before my appt on Friday. Hopefully
it's nothing too expensive :)

Accord groans

My 2000 Accord did exactly what you describe at 75,000 miles. The rear brake pads were worn out. Once they were replaced, the sound went away.

I found a peble in a disk brake once. It did no damage but it was noisy
