The Premium simply means it has side curtain airbags, the optional Bridgestone tires and better sound system with dual subs.

Everything else is EXACTLY the same.

To me the GTR has lost some credibility. On yesterday's episode of Garage 419, they pointed out that if you turn off VSA and use launch control, you void the warranty. How can a car manufacturer offer a factory option that voids your warranty if you use it? A few people have already broken the tranny by using launch control, and Nissan says they will not warrant the repair. ...And the tranny costs $20,000 to replace. AND you cannot achieve the GTR's reported top speed and acceleration without using launch control and turning off VSA. Basically it's either false advertising or really shady business practices.

do not launch your gtr or take the vdc off - NAGTROC - The Nissan GT-R Owners Club

i cant beleive nissan would put a option in a car that if you use it, it voids teh warrenty. why bother having it? lol

i don't agree with the VSA off = voided warrenty but c'mon people it's a factory warrenty not a drive like an ass for free pass. people don't know how these GTR owners are treating these cars, as far as we know they could have tried LC a few times or they could have done it at every stop light. they should get a digital readout from the in car black-box. that should clear up a lot of speculation.

if you have the coin for an 80k car, you should also consider the cost for ownership and maintenance. if you used your life-savings to buy any exotic/semi-exotic car and didn't expect reapirs to cost that much, sorry but you just stiffed yourself :)

personally, i'd rather invest 80k into an r32 but i'll take an r35 if it were free LoL

Turning your fox lights on isnt going to blow up your 20,000$ transmission.
It really is NOT the same at all.
They shouldve made the car strong enough to handle the launch control, and since they diddnt, this is their little ticket out.

+1

I agree with this but at the same time I'm on the bandwagon of, "Why would Nissan put controls in your car that, if used, completely void the warranty"...

From what I've heard, pretty much the entire warranty on the GT-R is BS... Sounds like they cover everything unless it breaks.

From my understanding, and I could be wrong, but each engine is hand build there fore no two are alike causing a difference in hp per engine.
I've also heard that each transmission is made specific to each engine and that is why they are so expensive.

You are correct.

Each engine is hand built by a single individual, from start to finish. But honestly, the tolerances are so close to zero, that Nissan is pretty confident that each and every single engine is almost identical in engine output.

The reason you've seen mags and shops posting different numbers, sometimes significant differences, is because of really two main reasons.

1. Each dyno is going to read different. They simply are not an EXACT science. Even two dynos of the same make and model can read within a 5-10% variance. That is why if you are tuning a car, you always want to use the very same dyno with the same correction factor used, so that you have an accurate set of numbers to compare.

2. Early models of the GT-R had various ECU tunes as they were prototypes and pre-production models loaned out to shops and media. These cars would have very different states of ECU tuning and so they dyno'ed at very different levels. Now that Nissan has had a final ECU tune locked for the past 4+ months, dynos have become a lot more consistant in the range of 420-430awhp. http://www.caranddriver.com/features...column?cid=259
