It's the UGLY thread!
While clicking around earlier, I ran across some cars that were considered ugly. Maybe they weren't all that "ugly" but something was off, something not quite right.
And this car is definitely NOT QUITE RIGHT: Fiat Multipla : The Other Side of Desirable Italian Cars It's mismatched. The lower half is OK, and the upper half is OK, but together. OMG!!! The top half is mini-vanesque, and should have a hood that slopes downwards, sort of following the curve of the windshield. The bottom half side is kind of Civic looking? Older version. Except the front end looks a bit like a truck. And the back end a bit like a Smart or Mini Cooper. Except for the tail lights that have an abstract art look to them. The plus side, it says "Hybrid Power" on the license plate area. And I bet it has excellent visibility from the inside. As well as being more visible from the outside with the extra reflectors on the lower bumper, and the extra headlights on the front. Utility wise, the back end, while looking hysterical, would be practical. Having that bubble straight up looking back window, that allows more storage behind the rear seats. Right? Looks like it has excellent headroom. Probably good legroom too, as the seats have that upright and high position. Here's a promo video: Dailymotion - FIAT MULTIPLA, a video from johannes914. fiat, multipla The three lights on at the same time looks pretty cool. They updated the exterior, removing the extra lights, and going with a more traditional look: Fiat Multipla MPV internal and external design And it fits in now properly with the mini-van category, seating six: Fiat Multipla 1.9 JTD (Italian cars) at Car Testreport: The square six pack after its urgently needed plastic surgery The original Fiat Multipla: File:Fiat Multipla 600.jpg - Wikimedia Commons And here: Whats this van? - VZi |
i think fiat just recently bout like 30% share of chrysler... which means

http://www.autospectator.com/cars/fi...-Fit-Sport.jpg I hate xA's. They look like toads. |
This abomination did not deserve the Maserati badge. The styling is subjective, I assume that my hatred comes from knowing it is a tarted-up LeBaron.

I think the ugliest view is the head on view. Otherwise it looks pretty cool. But from head on, it looks like the cab is stacked on the body. |

There are fans of particular colors or engines or transmissions. People who want an all-original, flawless specimen that is trucked to the car shows. People who have a ragged daily driver. People who modify. Here's a Corvette Forum: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/index.php I had a daily driver when I was married that was nothing fancy, a 1976. Later I bought my own, a 1972 454. And that era is MY personal favorite, but I have favorites within that grouping of styles too. Here's a whole thread with lots of pictures of that era: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3-g...ette-pics.html There were all kinds of changes. Bumpers, hoods, interiors, engine sizes, transmissions. That back window. Just THAT era alone had many more variations that the FIT does thus far. People will tend to LOVE their own model, for their own reasons. Right? You'll like your hood better than my hood. And people like the other various options on the FITS in other countries, colors, like the lavender/pink shade in Japan. Or the blue/green shade in Australia. You like this tail light and that headlight and those seats, all from different cars. The sky roof. You'll notice an admiration and an acceptance most of the time in that forum. Because the car has such a long history, everyone's model gets updated and restyled and redone, so that the this year's new car is next year's old style. That doesn't mean it's more or less attractive...it just means it's been restyled. I liked the original xA and xB. And when I finally had the money to buy one, they had restyled. So much that I would not consider purchasing one. I liked the original Fit. And I did hesitate buying the new style. I felt it was too "big" looking. But, after reading reviews and considering the other options out there, the FIT was go. Whatever that means. The original Fit is what attracted me to the car, I liked the styling! But when it was time to buy, I found that it would be less expensive to buy a new 09 (base) than to buy a used 08 (sport). So that's what I bought. If it wasn't for the success of the first models, there would be no second models. And there may be third and fourth and fifth models of the FIT. We know a hybrid is on the way. Will it have an even more aerodynamic appearance? Probably. We'll still have a special connection to our favorite year(s) and to people that chose that same year, color, transmission, etc. But we also have a connection with all other people who choose the same car, no matter what their year is, what style they have, what wheels they have, where they live, etc. Hollering back and forth "I rule, you drool" wasn't even effective in grade school. So it won't be any more effective now. |
