Good first car for under $10,000?

Ok, as far as the 4-door Integra, that could be a posibility. As for the Del Sol, not so much. I have already said that those kind of cars don't really work for what I need.

Uhhh....buy an old civic hatch and gut out the back seat for space?
I dunno... hahaha. It's really amazes me that I still see alot of older Hondas and Toyotas around here. Lots of people drive them to their deaths around here...and some aren't close to dead. :)

i reccomend an 88-91 civic hatch! i have one, and they don't die. its all that auxilary crap you dont need like electronics that always die first, which it has a minimum of! plus they look awesome :)
Ok, I already asked this, but seeing that my other thread (manual vs. auto) kinda died quickly, I might as well start another one for this. The question is, "What is the best used car for under $10,000?" For one, it should be similar to the Fit in its regard towards space, efficiency, reliable, safe, and fun (I know its a lot but I want to get as close to the Fit as possible). You guys know of any cars that are like this? I know of a few cars but I want first hand experience on what are good cars and what aren't. Thanks so much!

Hiya everyone. As far as the search goes, I'm still iin the search but it's being put on hold. I get my license (or at least the test) in late April, but my sister (whom by the way is 1 year and 363 days older than me) is testing for her license in early April. Not to mention that she is off to college in a few months so she needs a car more than I do. Yet, I may be able to convince my dad to get me something along the lines of an Integra, but the Fit will always be my love.

Hmmmmm. Anybody know anything of the first gen Ford Focus? I remember reading that all the car magazines loved 'em. Does anybody have any experience with them, or have had heard of how they hold up? I used to love them, and this kid at school has this really nice SVT, but a nice SVT will be a hard sell on my part, so just the Focus in general. Oh yeah, and I mean the ZX3 or ZX5. Thanks so much guys.

But its a Ford and it will depreciate very quickly, let say you buy it for 9k and you want to sell it in a year, you would be getting a lot less for it. I know every car depreciate but imports keep their value a lot more.
For 4k-7k you could find a import in the states and save some money for maintenance stuff so you're sure it is running right. Think about it.
BTW Mazda3s are nice cars but I'm speaking about sedans, I don't know about wagons. Just like every car, love it and it will love you.

I personally know 1 Focus owner, a guy a work with (we are dealership technicians) he drive his car about half hour and parked it, locked it, walked away. 15 minuets later went back out to see what all the police and firetrucks were there for.... to try to put out his car. He parked it and it caught fire.

Good news and bad news!
Good news is that I am getting a Fit (if I still want it, that is)........
But I am going to have to wait 2 years to get it. ='[
As I complained about in other threads, I can't get my license due to insurance costs, and I will have to wait about a year and a half until I get it, but then I will get a car. See, my sister got a new 09 Mazda 3 (not the 2010, or the new "smiley one) for the same price as a used one, so my parents have to get me a new car (or a Fit). So all I have to do is wait.....and wait some more. This is gonna suck. ='(

if the matrix wasn't that much more expensive than a Fit, I would have had the Matrix back in 07 when I bought my car...
